Blinkers and speedo!!!!

I am having issues when I ride or idle with my blinkers flickering and than when I ride they just start up by themselves and the speedo bounces back and forth. I can hit the left blinker and the speedo will go on or it stays on more at about 70mph and wont even move until after 35mph. I am loosing my mind over this because I have checked everything and I can't find anything. When I touch something and seem to make it happen I think I found the problem and replace the wire and it doesn't solve it.

I have read other post about this issue and it seems the ECH is going bad for most. I would think that and still kind of do but if I hit a bump it will cause it or if I am riding and my speedo goes out, I jump up and down on my seat it starts to work. I even touched my rear tail light wires while I was riding and that seem to get it off so I thought that was it. I unplugged the wire to that light and it didn't seem to fix it. I have had many issues because of my right tail light hitting my tire and causing issues with everything before. I guess I should just replace it and go from there. Any thoughts?

Real fun now. I unplugged everything and rewired my tail light. Seems now I made it worse, as soon as I rev the engine the Hazards go on. Any ideas?

OK now I have done it, Hazard stay on and my break lights don't work. Does anyone have a full electrical manual for a 2003 Chopper? I have a pdf file I was sent but it is missing half of everything. Has anyone ever attempted to rebuild the EHC? I am a computer engineer and deal with Laptop motherboards all the time and replacing parts so small they look like a piece of pepper, I can't imagine this would be that hard.

If you replaced the tail light wire that the tire was hitting and you are still having an issue, it sounds to me like you have a bad ground some where. Just a thought. I would trace the grounds and see if they are frayed. I unfortunately have the same bad .pdf file out of the service manual. Did the bike get wet recently?

No, I have never washed it with water so I don't think water could of been all over it. I wonder where the grounds are I should check.

Just a thought. Do your wires have connectors where they run up the backbone under the gas tank? I had a broken connector for my speedo that would cause it vibrate loose while I was riding and shut the speedo down. I read you have more than that going on but it's a start. Also I have found that when my battery is draining down there is not enough power going to the bike and it does random sh*t.

i had similar issues with my speedo and blinkers.
I replaced the EHC with Big Bog Performance replacement kit PDM. No problems anymore.

I am about to go take the battery out and check all the grounds. I was riding the other day and it was funny, I started to go on a green light and some lady on the side of the road just started to scream, FFFFF YOU!!!! Flipping me off and running in the street after me. I just waved and said, not in a million years even though she was pretty good looking white trash biker looking chick. Right after I passed her I heard a Awful sound, Mad Grinding. my helmet is tight, I can hardly hear anything so I moved it so I could hear and it sounded like my started trying to start while I was riding. Sure enough, the ground for my started came off the battery and it kept trying to start. That chick was running after me and boy did I luck out, she got about 20 feet before I wrapped that ground wire on the battery and fixed it. WTF was that about!!? I am moving this weekend and my bike is my only transportation at the moment. This would be it for my bike if it is major, I have had it with the POS big dog, I have Nothing but problems with it. I have put a lot of miles in the last two months riding from riverside to south OC almost daily but for a 52,000.00 it shouldn't have this many issues....

I don't know anything about the ECH and if it could cause the speedo to bounce with the blinkers when I hit a bump in the road. If it is going bad would this all be caused when I hit a bump. I can't seem to find any ground under my tank, do I need to lift the tank up to check?

No, that was the sticker, it was 4800k and 4000k to have the engine completely polished. I got it used and since I never tell anyone the truth every time I am asked I forget what I paid. I get pissy when strangers ask me how much did you pay for your bike. I am never rude even to those that walk up and the first think they say is, How much did you pay for your bike. I could careless if my friends ask me but it's rude when strangers do, anyone feel this way? I believe I paid 13,500 plus the 2k for my D&M air cleaner when I got the bike. My family was mad so I told them I paid 8k. I have told so many different numbers it's hard to keep it straight. It blue booked for 17,900 the day I got it.

Thanks Bill. I am pulling what little hair I have out of my head!!!! ALso, I did something to mess up my break lights, anyone know where I can check for that? My break lights have always been FINE!!! WTF did I do? I replaced a ton of grounds today, I unplugged the ECH and plugged it back, took the battery out and replaced grounds. I pulled apart all the little connectors and put them back. I found a bunch of grounds that didn't look good and were loose but it hasn't changed anything. I need to move this weekend and ride my Chopper, I am not insured at the moment because of No Money at the moment so I don't want to get pulled over for no break lights. I just need to get it to my new place.

So anyone have this happen? I went for a test ride and everything is still giving me problems and this broke. It was just hanging off and laying on my primary case.

Yep, I have seen those break. I took one off just last week and welded it top/bottom so that it would not break again. Poor design IMO with a sharp 90deg bend with all that weight hanging off and the motor shaking.
You can take it to a local welding shop to have it repaired. It must be welded top and bottom or it will break again...ask me how I know

I have narrowed it down to when I am riding it at high RPM and my speedo works a little better and the blinkers stop flashing. I know I am getting more Juice at that point so if that is typical of just a poor battery causing this or not. I have no time to work on this and thats all I have been doing for days, I have to move and ride this far and need her to be good to me. HELP!

Still sounds like a loose or bad connection somewhere. Did you put dielectric grease in all the connections and check all the eyelets to verify a good connection with the wires? Re-Crimp them?
