For wet sanding I usually start with a rougher grit probably around a 500 and work my way finer 2500-3000 grit.Try mothers billet before sanding if sanding is necessary use a light paper like 2500 then buff up with compound and polish with mothers billet but again try mothers billet first before sanding
Mother's Billet is great, but Dents polishing job is greater. He's got secrets he ain't telling. Thanks for all the advice guys, I picked up some Mothers Billet and I will try it this evening.

Baby's ass smooth,Well it's official, it's an alien virus not of this world, it didn't even lighten up with the Mothers Billet. It is still there, laughing at me. I am afraid I am going to have to go the wet sanding route which honestly scares the shit out of me.
Dent would know.. Polishing his bike is more of a lifestyle than a hobby. It's not hard don't over think it just make sure area is dirt free and try light paper first before the aggressive stuff it might take a little longer after sanding buff with wool pad and compound any compound will work then polish up with billet you can do it![]()
Looks like its pitted also, so sanding is probably evident.Looks to me that you already have scratches present
