Bikes Shuts down while Crusing

DR BULLDOG

DR BULLDOG
2004 Bulldog shuts down while cruising down the road but always starts again by turning off and on Key switch. :loony::bang:
Thanks Donny

Bad key switch?
Disconnect the JST connector to the switch and jumper it with a paperclip.
Take a ride.
No shut down, bad key switch.

1. Connector not connected = Not it. She fires back on again.
2. Wire out of connector = Not it. She refires.
3. Short to ground/signal out of range = Ding-Ding-Ding! We have a winner. Black box.

OR...

A. Crank sensor is cold and is within spec.
B. Heat kills the square wave making or the signal's output.
C. Bike cools down, therefore the crank sensor cools down and restarts = Ding-Ding-Ding! See the two variables?

Wait for more input.

:2thumbs:Definitely check the battery connections.
I've had several older BDs shutting down on customers and it was just a loose battery connection.

Had the exact same issue with my last dog. Never did find the problem. Replaced the key switch, removed the gas cap vent, checked back bone harness. Aggravating. Please post your progress. Curious to see if you find the problem.
