Bike Storage in Basement?

Hey everyone, hope you all are enjoying the holidays!
Was wondering if I could store my bike in my walk out basement for the winter? I put some fuel additive in it, but was more wondering about any gas fumes and furnaces down there?

It is a finished basement with hardwood floors, close to the windows, and the fuel valve is turned off.

Any thoughts? Safe?

Thanks,

csimon:confused:

I got my bike last Jan and had in the house all winter. No problems.

I wouldn't be afraid to do it. Many people store their lawnmowers in the basement. Just make sure of no fuel leaks and just to be safe store it as far from the furnace and hot water heater (if gas) as possible:2thumbs:

Hi Csimon

Been a Firefighter for 23 years. Personally I dont have a problem with storing the dog inside. I would have mine in my livingroom if I could, BUT !

Drain all the fuel out of it, Remove the battery, cover it and put it as far away from the hot water heater, heater and electrical service panel as you can.

As of tonight, i drained the fuel and ran it till it died.

I have a battery tender and was going to hook it up with the battery still installed. Is that not a good idea? There are a ton of electrical hook ups to teh terminal that I am sure I would screw up during the re-install.

I also would not rather cover it up as it so so nice to look at it while watching TV.

It is at the other side of the basement away from teh two furnaces and a door inbetween.

Any other suggestions? Or should i jsut put it back in the garage and car outside?

If you are going to remove the battery then run a zip tie on each of the battery wire eyelets.Tag positive for one eyelet which should be red all others are black tag these neg and run a zip ty though all black wires eyelets. 05chop:cheers:

You Married? If so, Buy two single Beds, Put the one for your wife in teh basement and the other one upstairs for you next to where you will now park the Dog, Sell the King or Queen Size Matress, with the money you get from that, Buy your relocated wife a gift.....Like a New Sponge and Bucket for when she washes your Dog in the Spring.....Everyone wins. :2thumbs:

Now thats some funny shit right there..

Thanks everyone for the info, and yes even Blitz's comments which are very funny. The bike is sitting pretty next to the window without fuel and a tender on it. Now i just have to start wiping her down and making her look pretty.

I will post some picts shortly.

It is hard though...looking at her and not being able to ride her though..
