Bike slips out of gear

Lately, my '05 Chopper has begun to slip out of 3rd gear. Most of the time it's fine, but during a 30 mile ride, it may do it once or twice. It will occur most often under hard acceleration. A couple times it's actually popped out, then popped back into gear, but usuall it just slips out and revs the hell out of the engine.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bent shift fork or fork rod. Might half to do a tear down of the tranny

don't you have about 60-70K on that bike???? ever have the tranny rebuilt? hell, you probably know more about these things than a lot of us put together. good luck with finding an answer. maybe you could contact BigDogTech on here, he rebuilds a lot of trans. and should be able to direct you.

Mine was doing that too. I figured out I was not kicking it up hard enough. Too busy hanging on. There are some threads on this.

time to tear it down.... it will just get worse resulting in further damage ...

Just turned 80,000 miles yesterday. However, the tranny was rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago when 4th gear broke due to the counter shaft bolt coming loose.
