Bike finally arrives in South Korea....

Open the crate and it is laying on it's side. Those poor Korean men got a earful that they probably did not understand. The company from the states that shipped it did not block it whatsoever. Someone is about to pay up for damages. On a better note, put it on a battery tender for a day and after 60 days in crate it fired right up. Just a little venting needed.

I can only imagine the sinking feeling, hopefully the damage doesn't keep you from riding.

Nice lookin Ridgeback! Sorry to hear she was on her side. That big arse license plate bracket probably kept it off vital organs if it was to the left. :flag::eek:

well the shipping company was out of jacksonville, fl. why they packed it and did not block it i have no clue. there is some rub and scuff marks, it cracked the the piece under the battery in two places. really it was all just cosmetic stuff. that and the 60 days in a crate with sea salt and moisture was bad also. eric wont be back in the states until sept 2011 just in time for the fall rallies. i think everything happens for a reason also. i would like to clean it up and get it back lookin somewhat normal and maybe sell it before i come back, i would like to buy a new dog. who knows we will see. took for a spin tonight on the camp, it is still running good as far as i can tell. going to brave the korean traffic on monday, anyone who has ever been to korea will know what i am referring to.

Sorry to hear that Scott! I know a good shop in Pyongtaek called Bison Choppers. I got some pix on here from a buddy of mine in the Rough Riders who had a bike built from them. I had them do a few things for me and the customer service and price was great. Not the most convenient for you though, about an hour drive south of Seoul.

If you have trouble finding someone close let me know and I will hook you up with some contact info. I can also hook you up with some of my riding buds with the Rough Riders MC. There a good bunch of American Vets that have lived on the peninsula a while, know great places to ride, and will make you feel welcome.

Here is the link to the bike that they were building for Doug

Damn, already able to ride out there? When I had my bike shipped to Japan I had to go through a lot of shit before I could ride it out there.

Did the shipping place take it away to box it up? I know when mine left stateside and Japan I was there to watch them box it up.

Korea is way easier to get registered than Japan. You can take it to the auto hobby shop on base and the will give you an inspection cert. All they check is the running lights, break lights, turn signals, high/low beam and horn. No emissions, no DB on pipes, no BS reflectors. Now that is for Americans. There might be different rules for nationals. If I recall, my buddy who had the bike built, had an old frame modified for the build (w/ original serial numbers) so when he registered it he would be grandfathered from new rules coming down the pipe... Sounds familiar.

Sorry Scott...didn't mean to jack your thread!

Bubba, the shipping company came and picked it up then boxed at the warehouse, i didnt get to see it getting crated up. Dawg, if you could yeah hook me up with them guys, it would be good to get to know someone if i do run into issues while i am here, and for riding. thanks for the help.

Scott, PM me your email. The auto hobby shop will do your inspection. At Osan AB you the DMV comes on base on Wed and sets up at the MPF customer svc (Force Support Squadron). I personally went down town to register it so I wouldn't have to wait a few days.

Sorry about the damages.

Will the big dog fetch a good or better than state side price over there?
