I have a 04 BD chopper.:flag: She sat up for a couple (two) months:loony:, when I went to start her she fired up and started dumping oil out of what looks like a vent tube for the engine on the right side.:angry:It's stainless braided line. Any idea what is going on or what I have done?:bang::bang: Any help I would much appreciate. Thanks brothers.

Wet Sump...

Sounds like you have what you call wet sumping. This is caused from oil leaking past the pressure relief valve inside the oil pump, allowing too much oil inside the crank case. You should only have a few oz of oil in the crank case, If too much, it will come out of the case vent tube. It should stop after a good 20-30 seconds. If not, you might have something else wrong. Did it stop?

It stopped after I shut her down. But it has done it twice. I checked to make sure the drain plug was still on hose and that's all good. I looked in the oil tank and she is low to out of oil. Thanks for your responses.

Run the motor till it warms up, couple of minutes, shut the motor off, and then check the oil. DON"T overfill. If sumping doesn't stop, you'll have to remove the cap off the oil pump(cap closest to the case). Prolly dirt under the check ball from sitting..
