I have a 04 chopper that I've had for 3 years. Started to get the headlight issue so I bought the Wire Plus kit. Bike has been running awesome for 2 years until recently. I replaced the rear brake pads and decided to get rid of the brake dust by washing the bike. Went ahead and completely detailed the whole bike and made the mistake of using the garden hose to completely rise the bike :bang: used an air gun to dry what I could. Anyway bike set all night and my gf wanted to go for a ride Sat morning. Bike started up fine and got about 2 miles from home and bike just shut down. Coasted into a parking lot and let it sit for a minute. Bike started for about 5 seconds and shut back down. Pushed bike to gas pump cause I thought it may be empty. Tried again and bike wouldn't do anything at all when the start button was pressed. Had to have bike flat-bedded home. Sent modules to Gina at WP. They tested the modules and found the switch module was bad and power module was good.
Here's what I've checked so far....
Stator checked good
Engine not locked up
Pulled handlebar switches apart and cleaned contacts and boards
Checked for continuity to ground and found that the green wire running to the solenoid, pin #7 of plug 1, pin #7 and 8 of plug 2, and pin #3 of plug 3 all have continuity to ground.
Could not find pin#39's black wire so I used another ground and checked pin #6 , 7, and 8 for the "start run and off" button press test but failed to get the beep from the meter.
Im kinda worried about the green wire running to the starter solenoid having continuity to ground. How can that be a power wire and be grounded at same time??
Sorry about long post but I want to make sure I find what caused other module to burn out before replacing old module.
