BIKE AND RIDER DOWN!!

Energy One
So the weather was decent here in Ga yesterday & I have been chomping at the bit to see how the winter cam change & rejetting felt with the Bandit clutch on my 05 BD Chopper . I had tuned the carb and wanted to go on a quick ride around the block in my neighbor hood. I had noticed that my rear brake line had wear on it where it passes between the swingarm and frame no biggie ordered a new one even though it hasn't caused a problem yet. My neighborhood is hilly and I had to go down a decent little hill with a good left hand turn and a stop sign in the middle of the turn. I came over the hill in 2nd and no rear brake, squeezed the front brake a little extra but I could tell it wasn't going to stop in time plus I could see nothing was coming which was my main concern. Instinctively, I downshifted to help slow the dog down (but shouldn't have) and bc there is some loose gravel in that area, my rear tire stepped out to the right and I was leaning to the left....It pancaked me into the pavement.

this is before...I'll post some afters later c3.jpg
Damages to the Dog:
Front and rear fender
Forks
Frame
Seat and pretty much everything on the left side has road rash or is broken but somehow the tank just has scratches in the paint.

Me I have some road rash, lost a fingernail on my left hand, cracked ribs, bruised lung (ouch that sh** hurts), left leg below the knee is really swollen and bruised up, and to top it all off I came to rest in a huge fire ant bed so I have 150+ bites on both arms and hands.

I'm headed to see Steve at Bikers Dream in Alpharetta next week to see how much everything is gonna be, but he put me right at ease over the phone today and assured me that it would be better than it was before.

Could have been worse I could have been in traffic with some jackleg pulling out in front of me. Please go check your chopper and see if your brake line is being pinched in this area....could save your life

Just a small side note. While you're checking your brake lines check your brake lever peg also. Lost mine taking an off ramp on the interstate a couple of weeks ago and scared the hell out of me. Had to push the lever instead of the peg. Red Loctite all the way on that one. Glad to hear you made it without any major injuries.

I know they're bad it was the sequence of events and James comment "to top it off I came to rest in a hugh fire ant bed" and they'll never make it to NY it's to freakin cold -9 on thursday morn.....
Just my twisted humor. James I aplogize.:(

Thx for all the comments, even the ant bite comments. I was so worried about it catching fire or something bc gas was pouring out that I didnt notice the ants for at least a couple of mins. Just happy I'm here to laugh abt it.

fyi dawn dish detergent applied straight to most any kind of bite with no water takes the sting out.

mick,
I really appreciate the help on the parts and the offer to not ship and refund. I love doing business with someone who does what they feel is right despite the bottom line. I will use these parts whether they total the bike or not and I plan on contacting you when I need something.
