Andrew Barns had his own shop for a while, I don't know if still does or not. He upgraded my Tranny with the harden shaft and other things that need to be done some time ago. At the time his phone number was 607-727-8545 you may get lucky and reach him there if not someone might come along with better info on him than I do.

Nice.... thank you all. Wonder why he fell off the board? I’m down in Spring Hill, Fl, and I have GOT to get this 3rd gear issue fixed. I’ve just been skipping 3rd for too long.

Stopped by a place today to tell them the issue with my 3rd gear, find out if I liked him from a short conversation, and gauge his knowledge level, etc. Here is the conversation:

me: My 3rd gear pops in and out, I fixed it about 5k miles ago, a bearing was shot and I replaced shift forks.
him: you know what the problem is?
me: no, what? (Knowing he was going to have a smart-ass remark)
him: It’s a BigDog, terrible design
me: What’s a BigDog but a frame with an S&S engine and Baker transmissions
him: It isn’t really a S&S, they got the parts from S&S and built them themselves
me: No, the original engines were crate, then they started building them, that’s why they had TP heads, etc, then they went back to custom spec’d crate

Anyway.... that’s about the how the rest of the conversation went.

I would definitely go somewhere else.
Hate to say it but the only option may be to go to baker.

Andrew is good but he’s very difficult. That’s why he’s not here anymore.

The last I heard was that he would only do transmissions if the entire bike was in his shop and he did the removal and reinstall. That may have changed by now. He used to have a web site. Good luck with you're transmission.
