Bigdogbiker.com rules !!!!

Hello everyone, I would just like to tell you all how great this forum is. Let me just start off by saying when I bought my 08 Mastiff last year I didn't know crap about bikes. Been reading bigdogbiker.com for approx 6 months prior to my purchase and when I bought my scoot I basically got it because it looked sharp and I didn't see any oil leaking from anywhere. After bringing the dog home I started getting involved. Started by downloading Gasman's how to service your Big Dog and purchased a service manual. One thing lead to another and before you know it I was changing my own fluids (engine, primary, trans) changed out my front tire, tightened clutch hub nut and dialed in the clutch perfectly, rebuild my forks, etc. Well even though everyone talks about how noisy S&S motor valve trains are I always thought that mine made too much noise. Especially rattle between 2500-3000 rpm on accel or going uphill. When I would get on it the motor sounded like it was pinging at times. Once again I went to the forum did a search and yup you guessed it, all the information I needed was there. My next job was to read up on pushrod adjustment. PHATASS had a tremendous video and chacha had a great step by step thread. Busted out my manual and proceeded to follow. Took the advice of the forum and adjusted the pushrods three turns (18 flats) as opposed to 4 turns in the manual. Following day I go for a ride and couldn't believe the difference. All that rattle was gone and even when I took it on the highway gunning it to 100 the thing was like butter......did 6,500 miles this season and I plan on keeping the bike forever. Kudos to all the supporting vendors and their great products also.

This forum is great, the members are great, and the information is invaluable. We all want to save money but it goes alot further than that. It's getting to know your bike and knowing you care to do the job right. Once again thanks to everyone for your contibution and assistance. :2thumbs:

I wish I had more money.
Right on! I'm in the same boat just e few years sooner. Not much on the bike I wouldn't tackle now.

Awsome ! I agree Big Dog Biker rules.
We should have a northern east coats meet someday.
At Laconia or Catskill Mtn Thunder. Would like to put a face to the posts.
Earldog was trying to plan a Lake Placid meet / ride this summer but
I guess it never happened ( or maybe I didn't get the memo ) :)

Im in the same boat also w/my 08 Mastiff. Ive owned a few metric bikes in the past, but those forums/sites, didn't offer near the info that Big DogBikers does. KUDOS to all who make this info available to us.

Now all I need is time. I can't wait to jump in. Thanks again guys.

I second that. I bought me Big Dog knowing I could always count on great Tech support on this forum. Much better than any factory support! And now that BDM is no longer, this forum is the only best source for information!
