Its be awhile since I last posted. But here I am again.

So I talked a buddy into buying a 05 chopper two months ago. We have been ridding a lot lately. About 5 weeks ago he washed his bike and the horn started going off he unhooked the battery and a couple hrs later hooked it back up, and every thing was fine then. Then two days ago he washed it again with not getting water around the seat and bagged the speedo. Then the horn went off again and the bike was trying to start!!!!!

So I told him to buy a new battery to start, then no fix so we un hooked the key switch, still same thing, then we un hooked the right hand "hand controls" still nothing. So I say to pull the green wire off starter and horn went off and then hooked green wire but up and starter started turning again.then put electric grease in plugs to the EHC.

Some help would be great. We are thinking the EHC is bad. But don't want to change it yet..

Thanks for any help we can get.

I've got an 05 Chopper DT and was having some of the same problems your having. I put in a wireplus and have not had any problems since. It gave me fits for two years before I did this. Save your self a lot of headaces and go wireplus you will not be sorry.

Yeah I told him a wireplus should be ordered today. I talked to the service guy chad at addictive behaviors in salt lake, and he said to put the Bdm retro fit kit in it. I dont think I will let my buddy do that. It seams everyone on here has only good things to say about wireplus.

Thanks for the input

If/when you wash the bike only use a light rinse. No high pressure. Also never wash/rinse anything above the tank with a hose. Bars, speedo' hand controls use something like glass cleaner and a towel. Never spray water on the controls.

Caught plenty of times. Just don't spray the control's! Was tryin to get home one time to beat the storm, didn't make it, rained like a bitch and the next thing I know my oil pressure light is on. So I start limpin it down even though it sounds okay, hit the left turn signal button and the oil pressure light went out :loony: Cut my heel and cruised on back home:D

Somebody on here had a thread about sprayin silicone on to the back of the control boards to seal them up. Looked like a good idea.

I would suggest anyone who owns a 2004 to 2011 to order a wiresplus if they have not done so yet. Sooner or later it is going to crap out. If there that far behind, order now and install it this winter

electic connect in the controls... disassemble - can o air -- my mind was the right hand controls.. not sure about the WD40 until you remove the air..but these doges seem to be
fair weather and not run thru the rain.
