I had one sent out from a member on here that sells BD parts. He is on Ebay also. Shovelheadkicker is on Ebay. He has an auction going on now for keys.

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
I found a source a couple of years ago and had 4 made.....no problem with the ignition (it's not expensive enough--on my K9 only the expensive stuff breaks), and the key is always solo..no keychain or heavy stuff...

Most guys put the key on a small carabiner key chain and clip it to the plug wire, mine was given to me by Tanya it's a Big Dog,
Tampa BDM rocks!! I bought my bike there in 05 from Party Patti. Then as time passed, Tonya and Clint came in. Great people. I also clip mine to the spark plug wire. Never fell out though.

Lost mine going down I-20 somewhere. But bike never died. When I got my new key. I now can turn on my ignition and remove the key and then start bike ! So once the ignition is on I put the key back in my pocket.

Is this coming off the hole something that happens with age? I tried to pull it out while on the ON position but its not possible.
I'll video it to show you but yes. I put the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position , start the bike, then pull the key out and bike stays running. When I'm ready to shut the bike off. I turn thumb control to off then stick the key in the ignition, turn key from on to off position then remove key.

I believe you, no video needed.... I am just wondering if it will definitely happen sooner or later in all models or it just happens to some years... I tried to take mine out while on the ON position and there is no way it comes out... so.... just wondering if I should take preventive measures or it will be just fine... my bike is an 06 K9, if that matters.
