Big Radius Dragging on Right Turns

Anyone else have this problem? I have a 05 ridgeback and took a right turn pretty hard. The next thing I know, my exhaust is dragging and my rear tire took a hop to the left. Basically scared the sh** out of me. I'm thankful a car was not coming in the other lane.

I think they redid them pipes for that reason. I could be mistaken, The others will chime in and let you know shortly.

It was a problem, the heat shields dragged until early '07...

They have new improved heat shields you can purchase or a grinder to the bottom can solve the draggin, you dont really notice any difference in the look.

I never felt the bike jump, but I have broken a couple of mounting brackets, you may also want to check yours if you hit that hard.

Yep, they suck for aggressive right hand turns. They make a shorter lower heat shield but someone said it still rubs some. They could stand to be closer to the frame if you ask me.

Mine dragged a little but never made the tire hop. That had to freak ya out. I just modified my bracket to crank the pipe up about 1/4 inch. Man you must of really leaned into that one. Must be an ex- crotch rocketer like Gas.

I'm sure others may have it, but, Mad Dog Cycles in 1000 Palms, Ca. has a retro fit heat shield that is shorter than the stock. I got mine for about $150( I think).
It works great, no more dragging.:flag:

I removed the stock pipes, and that mounting bracket off my 05 Ridgeback.
Ahh, much better.

If I owned your bike brother(15 years ago) I would drive up beside some hottie pick my noise and scratch my stuff hard and still know she wants me, LOL

Love your bike brother.

Thanks f-okie, I appreciate it.
Those are Santee L.A.F.'s "Loud As Fu*k", and they live up to their name. I love the look of them, because they are simple and they flow with the shape of the bike, and blend right in.

Damn Hoat !!!! Bet riding behind you at night is a blast. Probably wouldn't even need a headlight in the turns .... I could just follow the sparks.

I grind em down on each ride, I think the trick is to slow down a bit in the twisties. The only time the scraping really bothers me is when I am leaning, it is grinding, and being pushed across that yellow line...

No reason to slow down!!! :D

But yes this is a real and common problem.

Vickie also has a hook up on a aftermarket lower heat shield to fix this.

I as of today will have a set of used V&H pipes... will have some scratches on the heat shields but still in working condition... let me know if anybody wants them for a project... will sell for real cheap (like little beer money).
