657 wow, another 25 miles, an you would have beat my record by 2 miles. Yes, that's a long day in the seat. You start out stopping every 100 miles, then it's every 75 miles, and shorter and shorter. I always wanted to do an Iron Butt ride, but my old bones can't take it any more. 400 is tops for me now.

Yep, I figured I'd do 400, stay overnight then a short trip home but I kept saying just a little more...before I knew it I was to close to home to stop.

My liver can't take that trip with JR every year! Hell, we are now, 3(?) days after the event in Nashville! It's gonna take a month to get home this speed
This is kind of kind riding with Dentdude, 50 miles a day at 35 mph.
Except we are hauling ass and on the road, then have some fun in bars need to sleep one full night pretty soon.
Lmao.. ride solo next time.. he will be crushed and forced to drink less and drive more.. lol

I'm happy to report we spent 2 nights with MastiffDave. Splitlog and Dan330 came to visit too.
Dave is healing full speed from what always nice Splitlog said was so bad that Dave almost looked as sorry and weak as I do! That was hard to believe but hey, Al don't bullshit!
Anyways, we had good time, always great to see Dave and the guys in Fayetteville.
Also Nashville seems to be in full speed, we figured we need to check it once more tonight before continuing our trip tomorrow. Fun shit!

Folks are talking about having this gathering every year, I think Wichita is about as far next year as it is today. What if it would be like a traveling show? Different places every year, bit closer to some members. Sure it would mean we would miss Big Dog and Donna and Derek and would need "local Shannon" to make the shit happening. That might actually be the most difficult part...
What do you think?
Here's an example, the River Grille has been going on, twice a year, for years to meet up, look at the attendance.
The one meet up in front of Carl's had 40-50 dogs lined up for a ride, it got split up before everyone pulled out. You can't get that many to ride together in a populated area because you can't stop traffic for that many to go thru a red light or stop sign unless you have it in the middle of nowhere.
It is nice to meet up with members and chat, but when I go on vacation such as a bike event, I personally do it for R&R and that to me means no schedules. You all know I don't drink so bar hopping or hanging around in a bar is not my cup of tee.
I've been to Daytona more than 2 dozen times and only met up with others less than a handful of times. Several times I have gone with others and when you make plans to go here or there, there's always a lot of wasted time between this one doing this or waiting on someone else.:2cents:

Yep agreed...this year the only scheduled ride was to the Big Dog Factory and that was it left about 9AM Saturday. We actually split up into 5-6 smaller groups going wherever afterwards once everyone left. Some went back to the lodge, some a bar, some up to see Derick and Donna and some of us stayed at the shop longer. Your right waiting around for gas, yadda yadda is boring. Why I don't ride with groups often if at all.

Dinner was at 730'ish some people didn't sit down till after 8 and that was the only part of the schedule. I agree can't have too much scheduling, and your right about a rural area for riding in large groups.

Quite honestly the place was actually perfect and private which I think is key. Plenty of parking and RV space. I don't think anyone that went would argue for a different location. Fully realizing some people may choose not to come based on the remote nature and not how they want to spend their vacation time. Well you can't please everyone.

Moving locations sounds great but it's a logistical nightmare for planning. I don't think anyone wants that job. Keeping it at a location yearly will make it all easier. Also outside of whicita we would lose the factory tour and McClouds tour of their facilities.

I think it's a great idea having it annually, I'm not sure about a "traveling" get together though, but it would be nice to have something a little closer.

So did all this rambling mean you think it is a bad idea to have a Big Dog gathering a) all together, b) every year, c) in populated area, d) in unpopulated idea, e) outside a rally, f) inside the rally , g) you need some coffee, h) you won't attend the gathering no matter where it is, i) you don't like to have a schedule but don't want to waste any time waiting for anyone.
Our rides worked out pretty good under Shannon's command, except the one that was not under his command really and Chubs and his bro got slightly sidetracked.

I honestly believe Ker would love Flint Oaks. He could ride with a group if he so desired ,or just hang out and visit. The accommodations are top notch, and the staff extremely cheerful and bend over backwards to make their guests comfortable. The roads are surprisingly smooth and not overly traveled by cars. Just sitting and visiting with everybody was absolutely great ! ( We weren't really lost, per say, Just out in search of America !!) Would I do it again? IN A HEARTBEAT!!
