Big Dog Problems

Energy One

Hey Paul I feel your frustration! I don't quite know how to put it but my BD is quite possibly the most defective item I've ever owned, but I still love the thing! I'm not new at this whole thing either! Agree about the adrenaline rush and being different, love the fact that where ever I go people want to talk to me about the bike, it sets you apart from the crowd! Love that!

But......who ever engineered the electronics on these bikes should be behind bars! Come on this isn't something new, HD and the metrics have had it down for years! Copy from you're competitors winning ideas that work and implement your own that work, just like the big boys do!!

Still, do I love the bike? Hell yea, but it frustrates the balls off of me!

I just don't understand what some of you guys are talking about. My 03 Pit Bull, has been for the most part "problem/trouble free". Sure my throttle cables broke and other small crap, but that can happen with ANY motorcycle. I have complete faith in my Dog, ride the heck out of it, and NO major problems!!!! I would NEVER buy another brand of motorcycle. BIG DOGS, best damm motorcycle EVER.

I have to agree. I have had my fustration I bought mine used and just a month after I purchased it my countershaft in tranny went to shit. I did rant a bit but decided to just get it fixed and keep riding. Now 6,000 miles later still have a shit eatin grinnnnn every time I am on the dog. Its either you fix it and ride or sell it and get something else that is boring to ride.

I have likened my K9 Limited Editon to dating a super model. Sure she's a little high maintenance and sure she isn't there every time I call. But damn the thrill of being seen with her and my god the ride she provides....worth every cent. :2thumbs:

Okay all, I know a lot of these problems are self inflicted. But If the damn thing was reliable I would not have messed with it anyway. Installed a wire plus and new cam sensor bike still running like shit so it's still at the shop. Don't get me wrong I love the bike. No way would I sell it!!!

I hope its not at the shop that cut your brake switch wire's! Please say it isn't so!Whats wrong with the bike Paul?Running like crap in what way?:(

No way that shop has lost some business. I think its either a fuel or air issue. the bike coughs. I took it to a shop that has been doing some good work. I am seriously looking at the new air filter D&M twister. The bike feels like it is misfiring I really wish I could describe it more. Maybe I can put it into terms we all understand the bike "Quiffs"
LOL...

check for intake leaks or exhaust leaks?did it run bad before the cone aircleaner install?

plugs and wires are good. The bike is at the shop now. I don't think it's an exhaust leak because I did not have the cough symptom until after the new filter install. I hopefully will have the problem nailed down this week.

I've ridden mine to Sturgis and back twice now, never let me down mechanically or electrically. I did get a flat yesterday riding home, but that was a new Avon tire.

In 3 years, and over 10K miles, I've had a broken clutch cable and nothing more.

if it started after the filter change then you probably need a jet change or carb adjustment, once again self inflicked problem:whoop::lol:all simple not a big problem.get it dialed and ride.if there is anything i can help with let me know.i must be a lucky one,i put a spike on mine and runs fine.it is slotted 360 degrees.good luck bro hope it all works out:cheers:

I have no regrets on my bike. I've had an issue or two, but I ride it hard, and any bike would break with me on it.

There's no other bike on the market I'm even interested in.

Is this some kind of troll post or what?

I love my DOG, like I love my wife and girlfriend. Sometimes they can be a pain in the ass, but it is what it is, nothings perfect. :)
