a little insight, this guy(who hit chief) is the son of a local prominent family who has been in trouble before. I hope they dispose of the bastard this time...

Talked to Dave. The docs where able to cut into Chief's scull and relieve some of the pressure. This helped a bunch, although Dave says the pressure is building up again. Dave's spirits seem to be higher and couldn't say enough about the support he is getting from the forum.

Thanks everyone!

Thoughts and Prayers!

I was just in Panama City today and the bikes are coming out for sure. I could only think of Chief though and how this turn of events will forever change him. Have faith as the Lord can make everything work for the good.

Just got home from hosp and wanted to give a update on Chief .

The swelling in his face has gone down to where there is no doubt that its Chief lying in that bed which is a good thing and the heart functions are good.
He is tsking some breaths on his own but not many.

The bad news is that the medical staff agrees that there is very little chance of recovery since the brain is swelling and pressure is building . The third day which is tomarrow will be a very important day for the children who has to make a decision . I am hopeing and praying for a miricle to where I get there in the morning that there is not a doubt to any one that GOD has been at work in the man and friend we call Chief Joe Landers. Please God, Please ,take care of Joe.

The news has found the drunk scum is from a very rich and powerful family that has a large financial presence in the PCB area. I hope that they bail the scum bag out this week maybe a couple hundred thousand fellow riders can pay there respect to the scum bag and his family.

There has been some positive personal moments on my end today on the way that i am looking at this.
Joe had told me when it was his time to go he hoped it would be either while he was turkey hunting or riding his motorcycle. So if it is his time at least he would have been doing one of his most fav things to do. How many get to say that?

I was also upset that a scumbag drunk and doper took down a man who spent his lifetime protecting the public from those kind of people.
I belive with all my heart now that in fact it was the other way around. The reality is That Joe took one more scum bag down before he could hurt some other person, its just this one might cause him to lose his life. But he still took the Bastard down. If joe hadnt tookhim down what other bad could the bastard do, Kill young children ? Kill a young family ? who knows . He always risked his life whether in Iraq or every day as apolice officer.

The out pouring of help and the generasity of the different police stations and just the general people in the PCB are truly amazing. I dont believe that we and the family would have gotten this kind of help even in our own state and home town.

Now I have one last thing for chief to do. He was so impressed with all the big dog riders that we met and rode with that on Mon or Tues There will be a parade of power by the Hosp for Chief. I call it some rumble therapy. His room over looks MLK BLVD and the wall is all glass. Im thinking what ever dogs are in town and wants to and maybe a couple hundred other bikes should creat a rumble and vibration that will penitrate the damaged brain and maybe spark a new desire to fight this and live to ride again in the future.

Thanks for letting me babble and vent and hope it makes sence and with out to many misspelled words.

Just saw this, this morning. So sorry for Chief, his family and friends. This really saddens my heart. Lord Jesus , I don't know this man but you can know him from his friends. Lord I pray that You will just take hold of Chief and heal him from his injuries. Lord I pray this for his family and for his friends and that You will do this to glorify Your name. Lord if this is not Your will then I pray a peace and comfort for his family and that You will be with them in the dreadful decisions that they may have to make. Lord I pray for Your love for everyone involve. I pray this in Your name Jesus, Amen!

I am truly saddened to hear about Chief. I cannot express how much it bothers me to hear he was taken down by such scum but, as Dave said, he went down doing what he loved. I hope and pray for some positive changes.

PANAMA CITY BEACH — A hit and run vehicle crash Friday night in Panama City Beach left a police chief from Arkansas in critical condition.

It was one of two hit and run vehicle crashes within about an hour in Panama City Beach that left two people injured.

According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, Friday about 8:30 p.m., Jimmy J. Christo Jr., 52, of Panama City Beach, was turning left in a 1994 Toyota onto Quarts Street from Thomas Drive and drove into the path of a motorcycle driven by Joe Landers, of Lowell, Ark. The collision ejected Landers from his Harley-Davidson.

Landers, the police chief of Lowell, Ark., was not wearing a helmet, FHP said.

Landers was taken to Bay Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Saturday afternoon, FHP said.

FHP said Christo left the scene, but was found later on Hill Top Drive in Panama City Beach. He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene with serious injuries, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. FHP said additional charges are pending.

Lowell Mayor Eldon Long held a press conference Saturday afternoon in Lowell and said there would be a prayer vigil Saturday night at Lowell City Hall.

Lowell Police Detective Sgt. Paul Pillaro said Landers is on life support. He said the chief was riding with a group of motorcyclists, but they were caught at a light, which is why Landers was alone at the time of the collision.

A second hit and run occurred about 9:45 p.m. Friday on North Lagoon Drive near Joan Avenue and resulted in injuries, but no fatalities. FHP investigated that accident, but released no details, including whether the driver who left the scene was found or the condition of the injured person.

The two hit and run incidents came just 24 hours after a hit and run in Callaway left one man dead. Allen Cox, 62, Callaway, was walking along State 22 when he was struck. He later died at a local hospital. The driver, Kenneth Bennett, 30, of Parker, was charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving death. His passenger, John Griffin, 29, of Springfield, was charged with accessory after the fact of a vehicular homicide.

It was one of two fatal crashes Thursday night. The other happened on Tyndall Parkway between 7:30 and 8 p.m. when a bicyclist was hit. The victim died at the hospital, but his name still had not been released Saturday.
