Yea, I was wondering why they would assemble the engines at Big Dog instead of just installing a already assembled engine? I am sure someone will explain this to us soon enough Al.
First off some were and some weren't. if you call S&S with the vin# on the motor, they can tell you whether or not the motor was sent or the parts to be assembled

How the hell would I know why BD did some of the shit they did?:oldconfused: Maybe this type of business led to their closing the doors, mismanagement.:oldrant::oldlaugh:
Only a few folks that were in the room know why things were done. BUT, you could argue that S&S only provided their engines OEM in 1 configuration (speculation). You also could argue that they were not EPA approved and since BD was a manufacture they had to be in line with the EPA requirements. Buying the parts instead of entire engines allowed them to tune the bikes to their requirements and needs. It also allowed them to pick and choose which parts to use (good or bad).
