Just a thought for people with a carb bike....

Just, What if, BDM starting making there carb bikes with a chip inside them instead of jets that you could not change out and only THEY could change the pulse time on it, Would You Buy One???

What you buy is what you get...If you changed the carb out to a old style which would be a pain due to all the other propriety pieces that make it mate up and would void your warranty if you removed them, would you buy one still? Bike paid off, still they hold the key to the heart..:2thumbs:
Oh yea, it would be a pain to work on seeing how none of the shops know anything about them and are afraid to touch them.

Just a heads up on what the EFI owners go through with the BDM propriety mapping and stuff and no aftermarket unless you yank the system.
You guys are lucky..

The fuel injection systems on our bikes, Harleys, etc. Remind me of the time when auto companies dropped carbs and went to different FI systems, nobody could fix them right, horsepower went to crap and if it broke on the road thats where you were. Technology in the aftermarket caught up and now todays FI cars are spanking the older carb cars. I think The same will happen (I hope) with the bike market. Its really open to any manufacturer that wants to jump in.:zz2cents:

Not much sympathy for us on here Neal....oh well. It's so frustrating how the factory has locked everything up on our bikes. Neal is right, we own it, but the factory holds the keys. Bullshit plain and simple.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad I got a carb and wouldn't change to FI if it was given to me. I like to mess with my stuff and can do it with a carb. I and others as well can not change or adjust timing which BDM has set to their specs and we know thats where some horsepower is hidden.

I hope your dealers can help you out with any issues you have cause having your bike down or running bad sucks pure and simple. Hopefully as Pissed stated someone is working on these issues now to help us all out.

It would be the shit to be able to buy a programmer for our bikes (like we can for our cars and trucks)

That may not be too bad for the owners who have a convenient, honest & competent dealership but what about the many that don't, they're fucked

gooddoggie,
I can relate to that...
If it was not for corporate working on my bike, I would be hosed completely..
They even sent a semi to pick it up.. When it was really messing up...
Shop only told me it was out of there hands and they were doing me a favor by refusing to work on it.
Go figure..
I even bought the bike there...
