Id like a way to be able to contact guys in a certain area as well for rides, not just breaking down if their is any way to incorperate both of these together. Im personally not affraid to give my number or email to anyone here, Ill give my town or zip code and that would be plenty to narrow it down to a specific area.

If the state capt has the #'s and the person wanting help is willing to give up their #. less likely to have problems, because the person willing to help isn't giving any info except to supporting member(captain).
Good point, if you want help but don't want to give out your number that comes across as really strange.

I suggested something like this myself too. Maybe if we started state specific threads or had states up as well as regions. That would help. Maybe even a Facebook style thread that runs by state. So like on Oklahoma I could post something like " anyone want to ride to Lawton and eat a steak" or " anyone up for a run to TX to drink 6 point beer"

I think the map worked,if you set up a ride, set up contacts through pm's,I don't really see a need for capt's and such,I think guy's are over thinking this too much and putting TMI on the internet, just my 2,but if anyone needs anything from me let me know:cheers:

I'm in for whatever also. Hell the majority of us Mi dogs have each others numbers and some of use them more than others. If anyone had a problem in southeast Mi. There are plenty of options:cheers:

I'm in Mid Michigan.... Lansing, Grand Rapids, Mt Pleasant..... all about the same. Garage full of tools, parts and lift.... guess I'm in. :)

Oh, and a fully stocked fridge and wet bar for the down time..... and perhaps a bed or two....

I'm with Lars on this. I think the map worked. I'm in. Got trailers tools ect. and I'll go help anybody. Plus I already gave my #s to everybody around here (Brad, Rubwhore, I think Eric got it while we were in pcb. If the Maps up and workin you should PM people around you and exchange info. Hell I never met Ray but I told him that next time he was thru this way there was a hot meal a cold beer and a place to crash. You gotta try to trust people if you can.

your right trust is the thing.. I try to help everyone .. even when we were in PCB me & rub helped these guys we had never met before.. steve from bikers dream got us all together .. he called me wanting to know if I could get some members together to help the guy out... it ended up being a lose clutch nut.. me & rub fixed him up & steve next day aired all the parts.. we had never met but now are friends due to a great supporting dealer.. its just what bikers do.. I'd do it agin if needed.. it got the guy rolling the next day so he could enjoy the event.....here we all are in the trailer as it was raining out.. I'm still wondering why I was the only 1 sweating...:loony: it was all good ...

Willing to help, no problem with cell phone number or general area of the home front. Have truck, trailer (thought the BD has never been on it), tools, welder, garage, S&S and BD manuals, MC jack (and bud up the street has the lift, compressor, electrical meters, charger, etc. Pretty good on figuring out many of the issues and have nearly 40 years of turning wrenches in one aspect of another.

Nearest BD dealer is 35 miles away and they are good shop with good folks and usually have or can get common parts pretty quick.

This is a great idea! I'm in! I live east of Dallas and I can always lend a hand if needed. No trailer (yet), but lots of tools, a welder, plasma cutter, an air conditioned garage with a well stocked fridge and a wife that can definitely cook. Since strokers is right down the road and with them being as accessible and friendly as they are everyone may opt to go there for any major repairs, but if you need minor repairs, adjustments, or just a safe haven and some home cookin we're here. My wife works in law enforcement as I have mentioned before, so you can trust us. Just might not want to try and make us a safe house if running from the law! :D

I'm going to go over the posts in the next few days, depending on work.

Right now it looks like a phone list maybe the way to go... thinking phone number and city/st.

We can add items in like garage, truck/trailer, etc... but I don't know how much that really matters versus leaving a fellow BDM owner and BDB member on the side of the road.

Still debating about State Captains because that may not work well if we don't have a least one person from every state available. But the idea of a few points of contact is appealing. If it's late and you don't know what cities are around you due to being in a location you are new to, a point of contact with internet access/map can be a life saver no matter where they are. It can be as simple as a phone tree... the contact person starts making the calls to those who are close and can help.

I agree Tim. I was down on the side of the road one time and the nearest help was 4 1/2 hours away but just knowing that I had made contact and help was coming was all I needed to make me comfortable with where I was at. Good idea.:2thumbs:
