Bezal Ring fell off...

So, the wife and I get up an look outside and see sunny weather and decide to ride in to take back some movies. I take a quick look at the weather and warn her it is only 29 out, I dont have an issue with it but my wife gets real cold real easy but she wants to ride so we head out to blockbuster about 15 miles away. Not a bad ride actually had to put my facemask on because I was wearing my shorty helmet. Wife didnt do to bad but was cold when we got to blockbuster and ended up having to go to Vracker Barrel for some coffee and warm snacks while we warmed up. On the way out evrything looked fine didnt pay much attention to the headlight all looked fine. About 3-4 miles into the ride back home I notice the rubber gasket on the headlight blowing off to the side of the headlight. I pull over and see the bezal ring to the headlight is missing and light just hanging down. So basically I shove it back in and try to screw it back in to make the ride the rest of the way home. Now, I sit back and think "what a dumb-A$$" how could I miss the ring falling off or did I really not pay enought attention to see it missing at Cracker Barrel when we were having coffee? So, we take our sweet a$$ time riding back and making sure that the light doesnt fall out and I end up running it over. Yeah thats all I need going aroung a corner and the light fall out and I end up running over it. Anywho we back it back safe and sound. NOW all I need to do is decide since I have the bezal ring off/missing shoud I just go ahead and put HID or just get ahold of WB Cycles and get the Bezal ring (which either way I need to get a new one to replace the one I lost). Nelson PM sent. I'll make sure to put loc-tite on the set screw. Here are a few pics.

Light just hanging out...

Light shoved in...

I might need to get a new rubber gasket too, since I basically screwed the light into it to get home.:loony:

If your light came out then you lost not only the bezel ring but also the retainer ring. I lost mine bezel coming home from Sturgis this year but still have the retaining ring. Remember there are locking screws under the shell and if you loose them then you will loose the bezel and retaining ring.

:D

Here you see the bezel, o ring and retaining ring

Get the HID kit. For the money spent, it's the best thing to buy. See recent thread on it.

You can get the HID Kit, but you will still need the retainer ring and the chroms bezel ring. call Nelson via email " sales@wbcycles.com "

by phone " 214-418-3301 "

Then get your HID kit, you won't be disappointed with the quality of light it puts out. Talk to Jake he can hook you up with the right amount of light you want. Nelson can get you a new bucket or maybe just the parts you need.

Good Luck

Well the funny thing about it... is that you say you lost the bezel and the inner ring??? Cause the o-ring is suppose to go behind the headlight itself.

Thanks guys, guess there are 2 o-rings. Got it all ordered! should be delived to my house by MON.
Yes, the bezel ring and retaining ring each have an 0-ring for a good seal. The heavy gasket goes behind the headlight shell probably for shock absorbsion.

When I did the headlight to HID on my 09 Mastiff, I am pretty sure the only piece of rubber was the big flat gasket behind the headlight. My retaining ring did not have a o-ring in it (and no groove for one) and there was no other o-ring in it anywhere. (no thread ring groove o-ring or bezel groove o-ring).

They are very small and you most likely didn't even notice them. You can see the one in the retaining ring on the last picture I posted. Again they are very small. I always made sure I greased them when I pulled the headlight.

Bezel

Just got done reading this post about loosing the headlight bezel, and was suprised to see multiple comments about the same issue? Believe it or not, the headlight bezel is one of the hardest parts to remove (even with the right tools) from a service point of view. We get them in with all types of greese, misc. lubricants, and a few completely dry, and they usually don't like to budge for us without A ton of effort!

They come out alright. Hit the brakes to get on the interstate again and the whole dang headlight fell out. As I ran over it I was wondering what happened. I know how hard it can be to get them out "bezel rings" so it freaked me out when mine fell out light and all.
