Just out of curiosity I looked up shorai battery and found out they are not lithium-ion, but are lithium-iron phosphate. (have no clue what that means) check out : http://www.webbikeworld.com Battery/li-ion-motorcycle-battery/shorai-vs-ballistic. it explains it better.
Lithium iron is more similair to AGM lead acid and they don't have a thermal overrun like Lithium Ion. If lithium Ion batteries exceed 350 degrees they are not pleasant.

Lithium Iron is more stable but not as great as lithium ion in terms of raw power but I do believe they actually last longer than ion. Also lithium iron is nontoxic, most likely will see batteries with lithium iron then ion going forward.

Interesting read. I've used the Deka and replace it every other year regardless. Lithium batteries can get too hot for my liking but I'm sure the technology one day will eliminate this threat.
Lithium Iron is the new stuff . No more worried about heat just as stable as lead acid and it's actually all natural so it should make it easier to dispose.

Picked up a Duracell (made on the same line that HD batteries according to the Batteries + guy) yesterday for $109.00 with 325 CCA. Will install and give updates shortly.

The last battery I bought was the HD and that won't happen again, they are close to $150. Several friends of mine have gone to the Wally world batteries and they are getting the same life as the HD. I'm waiting for the energizer bunny to pop some out. :)

Oddessy doesnt make one that fits our bikes correctly. too tall or if you get the shorter one I feel it is way under rated for our motors.
I bought one and returned it.

I don't want anything lithium shit. I got enough problems with my kids; x-marriage and life in general without shit blowing up or catching fire under my ass. I don't even trust electrically heated seats! AGM batteries work and they don't blow up. Almost everyone on here has compression releases. I don't, having a '01. You wanna test a battery, start a 107 in the cold with no compression releases. Tomioka really does the job. 4 years and still going strong.

I'm running a Deltran Battery Tender brand lithium iron battery because if you really want to test a battery, try cranking a 121" motor with no compression release. Even with 480CCA, I still said screw it and swapped in compression release cams. I've only had that battery for a year, so I don't know what the long term performance will be.

FWIW, I installed my Braille on 3/9/2012.......and it just keeps starting my bike! :) Sometimes I feel like replacing it and the rest of the time I want to see how long it will last.
