Best Roadside Assistance

I am planning on taking a long road trip this summer and admit I am slightly spooked after the disaster from last year’s adventure of being stranded on the side of a mountain for six hours when my battery fried, 800 miles from home. Since then I have had more than a handful of serious engine modifications made and have reservations about the reliability. Does anyone know of a great roadside assistance package? I want a “Cadillac package,” one that will tow the bike home, not just 5 miles to a truck stop, plus a rental bike/car so I could finish the trip. Thanks for your answers.

I don't know much about Ohio. Are you guys required to carry insurance on the motorcycle. Here in New Jersey we are and Geico (my insurance carrier) has a 24 hr roadside assistance included with my policy. Maybe you should try and call your insurance carrier and see if they offer anything.

I have AAA Plus, as well, but the Plus is only good for 100mi. Even with that, here in Dallas, I have used a specialized cycle towing company instead of just letting some AAA putz with a rollback try to tow my bike.

I do not know of anything national-wise, other than AAA that would give him 100% towing coverage for long distances and/or a rental car to go with it.

I had to use AAA Plus Motorcycle several times. Their range is 100 miles. I have been satisfied with the caliber of people they send out and the equipment that will take a K-9 or the longer Wolf. The Wolf left me stranded several times.

AAA also has a package "above" their PLUS (in Ohio at least)....can't remember what all the perks were, but I got some info on it a couple of months ago.

Not sure what I did with the paperwork/info. Maybe check out the AAA webpage

Well, AAA Premier says you can have 5 tows per year of up to 100 miles each, and one can be extended to two hundred miles. So, can you have them tow you 200 miles and drop you off. Call again and say you are broke down and need a tow. Have them tow you another hundred miles.... until you get home?

What do you mean several time (2-3 time?). What kind the problem did do have with the Wolf?

I've got the AAA Premier and one of the things I liked about the deal is it also covers not only the bike, but any vehicle my wife or I may be driving.
Worth the extra $$$. I believe it's about $180 /yr.

If it's the AAA Plus RV or the AAA Premier RV, motorcycles are covered. It has to be one of the RV programs.

Not trying to sell you on AAA RV, but I will say the reason I went with it is because it not only covers my bike, it also covers whatever vehicle me or my wife is driving, whether it's mine or not. If I'm driving a friend's car, I'm covered.

So, in that respect, I think it's a pretty good deal. For my needs, it fit the bill.
