Best performance upgrade?

I would have to double check, (I think that's what is in there) I had the dealer put the pipes on the day I picked it up and they put the jet kit in. I have a little bit of decel popping when you really get on it but that is probablly a given when your getting on it hard. Even then it's not that bad.

When I started looking at the BCT baffles, I talked to a few of the guys on the forum and then I gave BCT a call and talked to one of the guys there. I cannot remember his name but he was realy helpful and pretty much sold me on them.

If your looking for something to make it a deeper / louder sound but not crazy loud, then I think you would be satisfied with them. Everyone else seems to have had good luck with them as well.

No I haven't...but I will check them out Fatdog. I spoke with Brandon at Full Throttle Motorsports were I bought my bike from and he said their tech is really good with dynoing and tuning the bikes...so he wasn't sure what size jets he used....I am thinking about picking some of them up BCTB....i will check out the site....thanks again...:choppersmiley:

Hey Guys,
Just got my bike back, I had a xxx super g carb, 640 cam, smoothness exhaust & retrictors removed. Have not had a chance to ride it yet. Should have some more bite now.

Carb?
Cam?
Heads?

Intake and exhaust!
For my 05 I ripped off all the Kalifornia sh*t, pulled the restrictor plates. Installed xXx bored and chromed E carb with a good cone filter. And, installed a set of Stainless Creations drag pipes with Thunder Monster baffles.
Still gets over 40 miles a gallon, good reliability and it's been good for 37,000 miles!
Looks like it might be ready for a top-end rebuild so will have that done this fall and replace all the T&P parts with S&S and tighten it up some.
Nothing else needed for my desires.

Stainless Creations pipes are great and I would recommend them to everyone but I had a hard time getting them made cause Big Dog had just come out with the RSD and Clint didn't have a model to mock them up on so they went back and forth a couple times till the brackets fit right. No problem now a days as he has them lock in tight. They are large 2 3/8" pipe with a big deep sound especially with the Thunder Monsters in them. But, I continue to burn up my pants on the front pipe near the peg. I just burned up a set of brand new leather pants so the pipe is off today and I just installed a new Martin Bros pipe that Vicki got for me at KC Creations. I had it ceramic coated internally and everything went well except the bracket didn't fit so called up Martin Bros and they have an adapter that I should of received and it's in the mail.

Now I'm like LDO both of us use Martin Bros pipes!!

Haven't had it on the road yet but my buddy is coming over later and we are going out for a short ride. If it does drag it would certainly ruin a good set of pipes!!

I'm Curious You say cutting down the Baffles Length Wise????? Or Cutting em down in half, I don't understand how length wise is going to help you.

Cutting them width wise. It will allow more sound yet with more flow and still stop decel popping that you might get with no baffles.

Basically the cheaper alternative to BCTB

So, when your done, you have two u shaped halves? Obviously you want the half that still has the thread to resecure it into the pipe, I'm having a hard time understanding how half the baffle helps you since basically, half of the inside of the pipe has No resistance. so no back pressure.

It would make More sence to me if you were just shortening the baffle.

It sounds to me like when you put your thumb over the end of a garden hose. You only have to cover half of the opening of the hose, you still get water out, but at a higher pressure because you now have back pressure.

But I'm thinking out loud here.

Hey Gas...I was going to take my bike in this Friday for my 500 service...but it looks like it is going to rain so I will probably ride it down there next Thursday or so. I am thinking about pulling my baffels out and taking them into work and cut them on the band saw......I might do that this weekend....

Go for it... I don't think it will effect your jetting too much. You'll probably love the sound.

I talked to a guy at Full Throttle and he said he ran with out baffels....he said it was a little too much...got annoying after a while...so he put the baffels back in. I just have the stock cam in mine...... .569 so I think it should sound pretty good. I will probably wait until after next week to do mine..I can take the baffels in to work and cut them down.
