I have some heavy, plastic Airsoft BB's if I need them for that purpose.
If you put plastic BBs in your tank you better make sure you count each one you put in and count each one that comes out that’s why a chain is better plastic bbs don’t carry the weight that a chain will. And Napa sell rust remover in a liquid I bought a gallon here while back not for gas tank for oilfield pipe fence works great I need another 20 gallons though

put some baking soda and vinegar till it foams out the top it might unclog your pet-cock too.put those plastic BBS in there just before you add the vinegar. Tell me what happens.

Just curious, with all the knowledge of the guys on this forum, they Give the best advise for motorcycling, wrenching, on about anything that runs. Here’s my Question. Why do you ask a question To all the smart experienced people on here and then go your own way and do what IMO is the dumbest idea yet ? Bath cleaner in a fuel tank??? What are you thinking?? Is there soap skum in there from purple power cleaner?? Don’t get me wrong,I’m not Hating on you, just confused...

Post by all means love the pix of all things on here. Citrus orange is a very good cleaner it takes about everything off but the paint.
Like I said the guys on here have been through it all. I’ve only been on this forum a short time, but can already tell just by what they post who knows what their talking about and who’s Full of Crap(some people don’t have a clue)and it makes me scratch my head trying to figure why they would say some of things they say. This forum to me is more than just info porthole it’s about make friends along the way. I was just asking why you ask but go your own way. You answered that. Good luck with your bike. You got her looking good. Who yeah!!!!

if it’s a ball, let it be there. I have had like hard pieces of plastic rolling around my -03 tank for years. So what.

I got real brave and after draining all the gas outta my tanks I shoved long strips of old towels down in to soak up the little bit of remaining gas, pulled those out, then I blew them out with my air hose. Then came the "brave" part. I adapted a piece of garden hose to my shop vac, stuck it in and worked it around in there, and was amazed that it didn't blow up ! It cleaned a whole bunch of loose lining out . Probably a dumb idea, but it worked for me.

I agree with the others . Do your best to clean it out, put a clear inline filter so you can monitor easily and ride. You can remove and clean as needed.

Like your garden hose idea. You can get all kinds of sizes of hoses. Once I broke off a pencil inside a cylinder and sucked it all out with a clear PVC hose through the spark plug hole.

Throw a big hand full of drywall screws in the tank and shake the hell out of it. Then shake it some more. That should get all the loose stuff out???
If it’s like the pieces of hard plastic like in my tank, you can shake it till the end o the day... I had the tank off and managed to get a piece where I could grap a corner of it with the nose pliers, that shit is hard as a rock.... I didn’t put inline filter either... if the bike is in storage I just keep the tank full of good quality non ethanol gas to prevent it rusting more. Never have had a problem.

Now the next level of problems, in trying to drain the transmission fluid, (as pictured and described in the owners manual), the 'left side drain plug' as is described in the owners manual being the drive is on the left side is unreachable with a wrench or anything else for that matter (no clearance), it is completely blocked by the oil pan.

-(owners manual picture)-

Who in the hell designed it this way??!!, it's like a staircase to nowhere...

I'm thinking the only way I can get the transmission fluid out now will be to siphon it out through the filler hole but doing it this way, will I be able to get it all out if I can find a siphon with a hose small enough to reach the bottom, like the size of a spray bottle hose?

If this won't be thorough enough to get it all, what else can I do?

Form actual experience, does anyone have any suggestions that will work? I don't know what else to do...

Thanks...
Just get a big syringe with a hose on it and siphon it out or use one of Harbor Freights brake bleeders and suck it out. I had to use a syringe on mine because someone screwed the drain plug up a little and I did not want to strip out the head of the drain plug trying to get it out. Like you said its a real bitch to get to.

Tap the bottom of the tank up and down with knuckles say, and hear if it feels and sounds hard? Who knows how well the QC is there. If it's not in-house...

If he's a one man band, then no, I wouldn't get on his case. If he as a cough, young journeyman mechanic, no again. Lots of bikes in the shop? Yes... wait your turn. Why? Because he's in business to work on bikes and say, whatever priority is over your bike, be it some addiction on facebook, or some other excuse... who you gonna call, bike busters and now you're really in trouble.
