Belt to chain for bdm 05 chopper

Energy One
I've grown tired of spending 200.00 per belt. not to mention the huge job of tearing down the bike just to put on new belt that don't last and leaves me strandant.

I want to replace the rear and front sprockets to accept a chain.

I"m a Right side bal drive. I want to get the STRONGEST o ring chain.

that way if ever i break it , i can change it ROADSIDE in mins.

what a time saver.

With all this sites experts knowledge who know what parts and where i can buy em, Should be cheap for sprockets and chain.

NOte: i see somone has done it here already. and i have reached out but no reply yet, it's been many days now that has gone by.

I want to get things ordered asap, and slip on and ride.

Thanks everyone.

Neil.

Gotta think ,if you are breaking belts your probibly hitting the throttle hard. I'm not sure you won't have a bigger problem with a chain. The belt has a cushioning effect when you drop the clutch hard. With the chain there is no cushion and it is unlikely you will spin the tire so those forces have to go some where. Chain , sprocket or trans something will give. Just a thought.
Good luck.

Shit $200 for a belt, i would never change, quieter, not a messy, better power to ground (apparently).

Try $600 + fitting for us here in Australia.
I got 10 years out of a belt on my Fatty, it had stones go through it (six holes when it did change it) but it was still doing the job.

As fast as rear pulleys wear out I am surprised converting to chain isn't more popular. I just spent over $900 between a new belt, front pulley, and sending my rear pulley to supermax. Seems like a chain conversion would have been a lot cheaper.

i agree, i spent about a 1000.00.

I"m thinking over the winter to send my old rear sprocket to supermax too.
Let me know how it goes. Lots and lots of details . I hear so many good things on the polymer inlay.

every chain I ever remember reading about was supposed to be replaced every 2000 miles.

how many miles are you getting out of a belt?

why are you replacing it, broke, lost teeth, fraying on one side?

Tsubaki chain
1/4 offset rear
0 offset pbi front which is really 1/2"
Clearance of your pulley cover.
I should have exact specs at home.
10k out of the chain and rear. The pbi every 20k.
