Belt tension

Thanks to someone... Gasman? Moespeed? I forget where I read it, but someone I trust here mentioned that he thought the Bigdog spec was too tight and responsible for a lot of the the bearing and seal problems Bigdogs suffer. So yesterday was new rear tire day and I softened up the tension to the mentioned 1" to 1 1/4" deflection and man did I lose a bunch of the nuisance sounds and vibrations I've suffered since buying my Chopper. You know who you are! Chime in and take a formal thanks! What a difference!

Again, THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

FREEDOM!!!
No no where did you measure it from?
Total deflection is the total amount of travel of the belt from being pushed up and then pushed down. Where you measure it from should be consistent. Push up, start measurement from top of belt. Push down, finish measurement at top of belt. Total deflection.

I think he was asking if it matters if you measure on the upper section of belt or the lower section between the pulleys. Along the top side or along the bottom side... Most measurements I've seen are done along the top side.

Are you measuring pounds of pressure also or just moving it with your hand ?

Also need help!

On my 08 Pitbull I changed the tire but did not change the bolts that do the wheel alignment. In my opinion it's by far too strong.

I know it's a rigid frame and that changes it all.

But:
On my former Harley (Softail) the belt was OK when you could turn it with one hand by 90°.

Is there any other (good) testing of the belt without the HD tool?

Thanx
Jochen
