belt pully not spaced properly?

I'm still trying to get to know my new (to me) 2003 Husky and noticed that belt drive is rubbing on the tire, so much that it wore quite a bit of the tires sidewall off. It looks like belt pully should be spaced further away from the tire.

any ideas?

Start with the rear wheel alignment. If your not running straight the belt will rub. There isn't much clearance on the these bikes.

ok, but look at how the belt is offset with the chain guard, it's almost 1/2" off to the right side. It looks wrong. or is that how they are?

Its possible the spacers got switched up during the last tire change?? Measure the spacers on both sides and see if thats the case.

i'll just pull it apart and try and figure out what's out of place, any idea where i can get a schematic of the rear wheel? it's not in the manual.

You will only have three spacers to deal with. Pretty straight forward. On the right side you'll have two. One between the frame and the brake. Then one between the other side of the brake and the hub. Left side will have one between the frame and pully. Keep them sorted as you pull it apart and check the sizes.

What size tire is on the bike? I have an 03 mastiff and it has a 240 on it. Was wondering if someone tried to slip the 250 on?

Doesn't the placement of the belt to cover look wrong though? or possibly just a bent bracket?

It may be bent. The bracket should be straight. Is it curved at all?

I don't think straightening the cover will fix your issue. The belt itself is what's rubbing right?

yea, straightening it out won't help, just a cosmetic thing for me. Hopefully the alignment will take care of the belt issue.. straightening out the belt guard for the OCD

Just a thought. I replaced my 2000 Bulldog with the exact same size Avon tire, but different model. It rubbed! I went to Big Dog and got the exact model and size and it solved the rub issue. Some Avon models apparently have a slight variance, although the size is the same. Hope this helps!

You might also want to check your wheel bearings. Make sure that they are still in good shape

strange.. not sure what stock is but i have the Avon Venom 180-55-18
