belt has a dent/tear question

Just got back from Sturgis on Sunday, so I was cleaning my bike. I noticed my belt had a half a pea size dent/tear on the outside of the belt. So I rolled it foward and noticed the hole on the inside of the belt.. A rock must have gotten in there. I was planning on taking the wife on a couple day ride in the morning.
Does anyone know if that is ok to do? What do you guys think? I was going to role over to the local dog shop in the morning and get his opinion. I looks like the belt around the area is still good and strong.. But how quickly will the belt tear once this has happens? Hell it may have happened in Sturgis, and I road back almost 800 miles on it.
thanks
Cary

ran a similar belt with a rock whole for more than 2,000 miles before I replaced it when I had the bike apart for something else. I still have that belt as a back-up. If the puncture is near the middle of the belt you'll be fine.

I was going to say something similar. If the edge is torn it probably won;t last but if it's in the middle not so bad

I've been running this belt for over a year now. If its in the middle I wouldn't worry.....if on the edge I would replace when I could

Road about 500 miles with the wife. Up and around to jackson hole, wy. and then over to W. Yellowstone. Nice ride, good weather. And no problems with the belt. Good times!!!
