Hi and welcome from Australia, i agree with all the above.
Quite a jump though, crutch rocket to a jack hammer.
It will be a fast learning curve, or you will have the crap scared outta ya on the first corner with any sort of bump in it................i know.
Enjoy

Well it sounds like you are starting out right. You have a basic rider course under your belt. You have some experience with motorcycles. Now you just need to find a big empty parking lot and get used to the bike. Get a feel for the clutch, steering and leaning, and braking. Take it nice and slow, have fun and get comfortable with the bike.

What you will learn with the Big Dogs, they are a blast to ride. But you have to be comfortable and confident in your abilities to do so. The more you ride it, the more comfortable and confident you will be with it. The more comfortable and confident you are with it, the more you will ride it. Then next thing you know, you are at Sturgis or Bikers and Blues BBQ's, or Redwood or wherever, just having a blast riding!

I ride a 2009 k-9 efi big dog. I don't have to much trouble cornering with mine as i counter steer going around a corner. When just turning around or a very slow turn i steer it like you would with any other bike! Remember that the 300 millimeter tire always wants to stand the bike straight up. Good luck with your bike and take it slow for a while until you get used to it!!!

Awesome looking bike! Not the bike I would tell someone to start off on, but its a sweet bike. I can tell you that your gonna have to get used to counter steering to get the bike to lean, and then the part that is not normal or natural is actually turning into the turn. Otherwise you'll be out in the breakdown lane every time you turn. Once you get use to riding them, you'll love it, but as others have said, under certain conditions you could spit out diamonds with your ass.
