Well, as a chrome lover, I like the look ON.
Not to mention that it might keep the passenger's pant leg from making the "loop" and tearing off the pant leg.

I have a question, the belt goes counter clock wise, how could pants ever get caught in the rear pulley?

I have to agree with BroadBand. I like it better on. Love the Ultra.
Thanks, picked it up today. Had my mechanic who does my tuning a just my timing on the Dyno. I was getting slight pre-ignition. Runs so much sweeter now

I like it on. But, I also subscribe to the idea that "Less is More". If I were to put something on my bike, Stephanie would tell me to take it off.

I took mine off, cut off the tab, ground and smoothed the frame and repainted it.

So I obviously prefer it off. I also believe less is more. It's just clutter to me.

It's rotating the wrong way to snag something.

I think it looks better on!:D Your right though, there is no way you could get anything caught in there, to actually work it would need to be on the bottom instead of the top!:D

driveshaft works the best, enclosed , no worries about rocks/road debris tearing up a belt, or getting a body part rubbed by a pulley/sprocket.
but we have a belt on the bigdog's., so the more that is covered the better.

I have one bike with a chain, two with belts, and one with a driveshaft.
All are old bikes, the driveshaft has not been replaced, however the other three have had their final drive replaced .
