I left the side covers off and took it to refill at the pump with fuel.

the lights were flashing on the ehc when it was started from cold this morning.

Did the same thing it always does runs about 10 minutes then dies cycle the key crank excessively and it starts a runs for 30 seconds to 1 minute then dies again.

Aren't the light on the EHC supposed to flash when riding/running?

I had a yellow and green and the red was flickering when it started running bad.

after it died, I started it again and no lights at all on the ehc.

Have I missed any component in the ignition system?

I wouldn't mind sending it off to get tested but I would also like to ride the bike here in the tail end of spring.

Thoughts?

Loose another week or two getting it tested.

Just Buy an EHC

Send both the ignition module and the ehc off and get them tested?

Any input anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Did I miss anything in my diagnosis?
I don’t think so. Pretty thorough assessment of the systems involved. The EHC is likely the culprit. My ‘04 started acting weird and was doing things it had never done since I bought it. After checking everything else like you did I narrowed it down to the EHC. Replaced it and the bike is running great again. Call Curtis @ WSW and talk to him about a Axle’s Replacement EHC. Worse case scenario you can get one from Matt Moore at BigDog but it’s a little more involved than Axles replacement. They cost about the same.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all for the good advice and sticking with me throughout the process. This old motorcycle doesnt really matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

Its the people that lend a helping hand along the way that do.

I sure do appreciate it. I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend and thanks again!

Oh and Ill be sure to post whatever the outcome is when I get it fixed

All my best to you and your families!
