Hey guys, I used to frequent this site and the old one years back. I had an 03 Pitbull and an 03 Chopper but sold them around 2015 time frame and got into baggers. I dad a cool shop down here in Miami, FL and built some pretty sweet baggers aimed at audio competitions...Fun times. I'm burnt out with the bagger scene and miss having the 03 Chopper --- just a fun bike to ride and cruise around on and want to get another one. My question, because I forgot the differences in years is between the 03's and 04's and then the newer models regarding the electrical.

Ideally I'd like to rewire whatever bike I end up but I don't know the difference. The 03's I remember had the Thunderheart EHC but all components were HD style, I never had any issues but always figured I'd rewire it at some point. The 04's were the same I think, but with the BD hand controls? Is that as simple as just changing the bars to ones that fit HD controls and it's essentially the as an 03? What about the newer models, I never had one of those and am clueless to the differences?

I made a post on Big Dog Chopper on Facebook. If anyone is looking to trade out or a sell a Big Dog and is looking for a custom bagger, this would be a great addition to your garage. She's listed for 38k, it's a new build, new paint, with tons of fiberglass work...the saddlebags have 10 inch subs, ported and sounds like a car with four 15's. It's one of the best of the best in the country for what it was built for. Thanks fellas. My screen name on FB is Alex Haze, feel free to look me up.

You can rewire if you want, but now days, with the EHC's that are out now, and other electrical parts that are now available, there isn't any reason to rewire.
As I'm reading up I see lots of guys going that route. So is there any advantage to getting an older 03/04? I always figured because they had more inter-changeable HD parts reliability was better?

04 and up from what I know are all the same with the exception of the type of ehc. 04 has cam sensor and 05 and up crank sensor. O4 is left side drive with a 107 engine and 05 and up is 117 Engine with right side drive. Some more minor differences after 05. I’m sure I started something. 250 tire on some 300 on others. Little things.

Yeah their in Tampa. Funny those bikes they just posted were Waykool's and his wifes. I spoke to him about the silver one last week and no shit a day later he must've sold them to that shop and they're flipping them. Literally a day after I spoke to him, he had them listed for months.
