Be Careful Out There!

On my way home from work today, dark and light rain, 50mph is the speed limit. Seen something black in the middle of the road but couldn' t tell what it was until I got close enough to see it was an older gentlemen laying in road and seen a black Harley about 25 ft in front of him. Slammed on the brakes and ran to help him. Had to take his helmet off because the straps were making it hard to breath . A few others stopped and we called the ambulance and stayed with him until they got there. Picked up his bike and moved it out of the road. He didn't know what happend or where he was but did know his name so hopefully just a concussion and he had some road rash. Thankfully he was wearing a helmet or could have been a lot worse. Hopefully he will be alright. Be Careful, especially in rain!!

Thank God you were able to help!
I avoid night and rain too. I will keep him in prayers. What a tough way for you to end your Saturday night but thank you for the reminder and I'm sure you are holding your loved ones tighter.

Yeah it' just crazy to think that any ride we take could end bad. May not be our fault either. Not sure what caused his wreck, could have been a coyote or other animal crossing and lost control due to rain etc.

Wow - glad you were there to assist!
As I'm getting older, I tried to avoid writing at night and definitely would never ride in the rain.
Agrees with the other older person here ! :)

Great save by the way !

I've mentioned this before but I can't stress enough:
I mark all the critical bolts with white nail polish (weatherproof). Before every ride, I walk around the bike and see if any of the witness markings have broken (indicative of a bolt coming loose). Takes only a few seconds.
I ride in the night, rain, and non-sticking snow very carefully of course with the peace of mind that at least nothing's going to come loose on the bike.
