BDM cut me off.

Well as stated in an earlier thread my trans broke the other week. I took it into the dealer and he thought that BDM would take care of it. Well my bike did just run out of the warranty a month or so ago but, I had trouble with the trans popping out of gear noted in my file, I have had troubles with the belt etc. on file. But nope, your on your own. I really thought that with prior trans trouble and everything considered that they would have taken care of my trans. Traveling up the road at 65 MPH and the trans just breaks is a litte crazy. I obviouly couldnt ride my bike in Feb-March when my warranty expired and when I finally got it out it broke. Thanks for your help BDM. What the hell could I have done driving up the road to cause the damn trans to go bang and send me into a skid. Well I am learning more and more about the product and company with every passing moment. I really felt they would want to fix this and see what the hell happened to possibly fix a problem. I am not the first one to have this issue with the trans. I just expected more from BDM because I always felt they stood behind their products.

In defense of dealers, we do alot in terms of trying to convince BDM that they should take care of something. We see the bike and know the history and the customer, so we have to convey that to BDM. We submit photos, data, etc., anything to help our customers get what they deserve. Maybe you're dealer might not care or might not have a good rep with BDM but not all dealers are like that! I feel like we've helped Big Dog stand behind stuff more than just the customer can on his own.

Baker makes them. BDM just installs them. Your time expired on the warranty. No other company fixes things after a warranty is expired. BDM takes care much more and better than most. Kill them with kindness and see what happens. Call Baker also to get input. You think Harley or Honda or car makers fix things after a warranty? No way. I understand your frustration but BDM is a very good bike and company and they can't possibly please everyone all the time.

We fix cars and trucks that are out of warranty all the time here at the Dodge dealer.... Some times you might have to do a 1/2 and 1/2 split or you pay labor we cover the parts.... Large deductible... But it is a case by case decision by Chrysler... or is it Fiat :roll: Actually right now it's the US government.... :D

I'd call the factory and ask for some assistance...

My dealer is very good and I am not blaiming them at all. I do understand the part about it being out of warranty and BDM has usually been there for me. That is why I was shocked about this issue. Having previous troubles with the trans it should have been no problem. I was fourtanet to buy an extended warranty and hope it works out.

I do have to admit a little confused about the extended warrenty part. If you have one, let them fix it for that is what is for, and to be honest I could see BDM not wanted to cover something out of warrenty on their nickel if another company will.

Either way,l hope you get here running right soon and back on the road with no more problems.

Good luck

:roll::roll::roll::iagree:

Bashing BDM, when your bike is out of their warranty, and covered under another warranty, is pretty bad. I understand the frustration of your trans breaking for no apparent reason, but if it's covered, just get it fixed.

You all missed the hole point. If you have documented problems with a specific part and that part breaks a month after your warranty and they dont want to talk about it, seems crappy to me. Why document issues. I just thought the same way the dealer, that since I had previous problems that they would probably take care of it. I dont really give a shit who fixes the damn thing, just fix it. I just thought that is why they document issues. Either way its money out of my pocket. I stated before that BDM was always good about standing behind their products, Thats why I was dissapointed that they wouldnt fix it. It would have been an easier faster process if they fixed it. I am not bashing BDM for no reason, I really dont think I am bashing them at all, but I just want my shit fixed. I am tired of the back and fourth every couple of months for this and that. It was a problem even when I had a warranty. I know that nobody else has any issues with their bikes that pisses them off but me and the world is perfect, then I woke up. I just wonder how you would feel riding up the rode at 65mph and for no reason your trans blows up and sends you into a 100+ foot skid. :rant: I feel pretty lucky to be able to vent. Enough said. See you on the rode.

i don't blame ya for thinking that way; i know i would too if my trans went like that, esp after documented probs that may not have been taken care of. hell i may be in the same boat at some point (without ext warranty). [i've still got trans noise it shouldn't i believe - hopefully i'm wrong]

I'd contact a lawyer then, see what they say about it.

Call BD directly. If they don't help, call baker. Do you have any idea what "broke"? I worked with jims on a bourget tranny. Bike was a year outa warranty but they sent me the parts and I installed them. Then 3 months later it blew up again and I just threw an ultima in there. Anyway, call baker I bet they will at least send you the parts. What gives with the extended warranty? They won't cover it?

Call Baker direct, check out their web site. They cover their DD6 tranny for 5 years. I know that it's diff once install on the dog but call 'em. Since it's only 2 years old they might do somethin for ya.

Been there done that. It sounded promising, but they wanted to charge me to rebuild it since BDM warranty was done. They said that the BDM trans is built to BD specs and has a different warranty than the other units they sell. (?) Oh well.
