BDM Autometer Speedometer odometer/trip reset button replacement

Been trying to figure out the best approach to replace a missing rest button on my 2005 BD Chopper that has the Auto Meter Instruments speedometer.
I was very lucky to find a used, non-function speedometer that has the button. What is the best approach to replace my missing reset button? Options I thought of are as follows: 1. replace my glass/plastic that has the missing button with the glass/plastic&button of the non-functioning speedo 2. Just remove the button from the non-functional speedo and install it into my speedo 3. Other? Perhaps a marine water proof switch cover? ? ?

The reset button on the non-functional speedo seems to be adhered to the glass/plastic however it base of the button does rotate. I have not replaced it from the glass/plastic. Would like to know the best approach, thanks.

Pull the bezel from the old speedo and put it in the new speedo.

Thanks for the suggestion of removing the bezel (which has the reset button adhered to it) from the non-functional old speedo and then using it on my speedo. Any recommendations of how to do remove the chrome ring from the speedo and also removing my speedo unit from my chopper?

Also, what would Franco suggest?

The chrome bezel is tough. It is crimped over from the back.
I removed mine to change the speedo face.

Best advise I have is to use a trim stick, which is a small nylon pry stick, slowly work it under the bezel then rotate it around the housing several times. Then begin to pull off the ring while continuing to work the stick around the housing. Don't pry to much to fast or you will split the plastic and chrome.

I'm pretty sure I have a "How To" on changing mine. Its kind of a pain but its doable.

Alright, I will find some tools, the appropriate ones, and begin the surgery soon.
I just do not want to f-up my original speedo. I will prey the non-functional speedo bezel first. If it all works out and I can figure out how to post a photo- I will ask my chic to get down and dirty on the chopper for a snap shot. Thank you for your suggestions.

I was just reading the other threads- looks like I need to remove the gas tank. Is that correct?
