BD K9 vs TM Keystone..

well I ran across an 06 TM Keystone 103" LSD at a good price (asking 15K obo) with low miles on the clock. I rode a Keystone once not this one and this one is in great shape w/chrome package.

How does the BD K9 compare to the TM Keystone pros/cons as I still like the looks of the K9 better.

BDM still in business with a great warranty
TM out of business and not all HD dlr's will work on one.

There are a couple threads on this topic, use the SEARCH feature and read up on this.

TM did some very nice paint, the price is a good one for these once high priced bikes.

Ride a big dog, then ride the TM and make your choice. Most of us rode both and the decision was an easy one for me.

The problem here in So.FL is that the nearest BD dealer is in Tampa a four hour trip. I'd have to find a good Indy to do any work I coundn't do myself. With the TM their are HD dealers who work on the TM as it's 90% HD. Another feature I don't care too much for is the K9's 300mm tire and prefer the 240/250mm rear tire. Here is one I like the paint scheme as you say TM does have nice paint.

I know it's a 300mm tire also, too bad it's sold but I like the paint.

I looked at a TM, but the style was not what I wanted and parts availability was in question (like the sissy bar and such).

Instead of the K-9 with it's fatter tire, perhaps you should look for a Chopper with the 250 tire.

I got a good bud that has a 2006 TM and he will not ride with me because his bike is not real dependable (it is longer, has a bigger tire and fantastic paint with more chrome however, and he paid over 40k). He now has just over 1100 miles on it, yet it does look pretty cool at the bar which is the only place he rides it to.
remember, HD's have more than their share of issues also.

Big dog still exist. (although the future is in ???)Thunder mountain has folded. big dog comes with a 117 s &s vs the screamin eagle motor from TM. there are threads here with guys that have gotten 60k + miles on their Big Dogs with simple ROUTINE maintenance. Thunder mountain has the Harley support++ Huge PLUS since there are Harley dealers everywhere. in the end i would go with the K9 but i would not say its better than the thunder mountain since i am sure there are plenty of Thunder mountain owners out there that are loving there bikes and have many success stories. i guess it comes down to how the bike feels to you and which you prefer. as you stated. one huge problem is finding a Big dog dealer. its not a good feeling to pay your hard earned money for a bike and not be able to take it to a dealership without taking a road trip. the fact that the thunder mountains are no longer made but still are 90% Harley makes them even more unique in my opinion. you get a unique bike with the dealer support of a common bike. so there are pros and cons to both. i personally like the Big dogs better for many reasons. good luck to you.
