Excuse my ignorance but it appears they made both in like 2006. What is the difference in the K9 and the Chopper? (Soft tail). They look just alike.

Thanks

Chopper has a 250 rear tire
K9 has a 300 rear tire and has more streatch and longer forks.

Is there any ride difference or feel of the bike? Like sitting on the 2 do they feel the same?

Also there's a guy local selling a 04, and he claims it's a K9. What year did the K9 come out, like 06?

Just trying to get my knowledge about the bikes down pat.

If its a 04 its not a K9 but it could be a Chopper. The K9 didn't come out until 06, I think the idea was to offer a softail bike similar to the Ridgeback but with a swingarm. Both bikes have a huge following, the K9 is longer & has a 300mm rear tire and a 117 engine and is right side drive.

Similar K9 is lower, to me they ride the same but I’m used to my Chopper.

I think 05 was the first year for the K9 not sure.

Having owned an '05 Chopper and now an '09 K9, I can tell you I love both bikes and each has their good points. But overall, I like the ride of the K9 better...it just fits me better. However, the only way for you to really decide is to spend some saddle time on each bike. Check with your local dealer regarding demo rides.:whoop:

Close BB but no cigar,,,,,,06 was the first year for the K-9. I got mine as soon as they hit the streets.

To me they feel just alike, I just wish I was somewhere I could ride mine! It was zero degrees here this morning, to f#$king cold for me.....

I love my K9, I have not ridden a chopper but I do have friend who have them, and most wanted a K9 but the chopper was cheaper so more of a money thing.

I have a friend who rides with us that owns a 05 Chopper. Not much difference in the ride, but when parked side by side the K9 looks bigger and longer.

The local dealership is kinda funny about test drives. It's almost like they want to lock in the sale before they offer test rides. I even mentioned riding a used one to keep the miles off the new one. I dunno what's up with them.

I found a good deal on a 06 K9. I'm waiting on a reply back from the seller. Not my color, but under 2k miles for $15.5k.

Like other members have touched on there's the tire size diff, and the length, the K-9 is 9ft tip to toe, i believe the chopper is 8ft & the 06 K-9 has the 117in and prior to that was the 107in.

Yep...except the length...local dealer says the exact difference in the chopper and K9 length is 8 inchs tire tip to tire tip...and of coarse the 300 rear tire on the K9 compared to the 250 on the chopper (however, I hear you can get a 260 tire on the chopper).

Should be a difference in handling ..with the fatter tire on the K9 and the weight difference?

K9 701lbs, Chopper 665 lbs
K9 108" long , Chopper 104" that's 4" folks
K9 39 Degree Rake Chopper 37 Degree
K9 Seat height 24.25" Chopper 25"
K9 Frame 4"out 8"down Chopper 3"out 7" down
K9 Ground clearance 4" Chopper 4.5"
K9 Tube Length 12" Os Chopper 10" Os
K9 "Wheel base"- K9 82" Chopper 77.5"
That's from the manual.. As you can see plenty of difference .. Engine and trans same .. two really different feeling bikes at speed and in the twistys IMHO :D

I had some pix taken of me on a K9 and compared to me on a chopper.

The grips and gauge are higher on a K9. The grips are further back on the K9, too.

I basically I sit straight up on a K9 and lean slightly forward on a chopper. My arms drop a little on the chopper and are straight out on the K9.

The K9 has a little bit bigger gas tank, also.
