Well today i deciced to get on my dog and take it for a ride i pulled it out of the garage and was trying to start it.It turned on but then it died it usually takes about three times then it turns on,when i got it started it started to smoke so i shut it off checked all the wiring took the seat off and the positive battery post melted not all the way but a good chunk of it i had checked the cable like last week made sure it was tight is this a short or something ? Just wondering iif anybody has ran into this problem before?

Gilbert -- any water under the Seat ? The Seat liner they use to use would retain water. this Can put a short across the battery and slag the positive post. Had it happen to me last year.

I saw a little wear under the seat but it wasnt close to the post and it hasnt been wet been in the barn but i know i have seen a damn mouse close to the bike thats why i checked the all the wiring if the cable was loose would it cause it to do that?

I guess it could...

The seat was just a guess... I have heard of that being the case.

i had two units melt the posts OFF. turns out the voltage reg was loose, that causes it to look for a ground, over heats the posts and melts them. after the voltage reg was fixed, no more slow starts, no more battery problems. hope yours is that simple.
