Battery One Oh One

Seeing as though I am going to be in the market for a new battery this next spring, I came up with a few questions to run by all of you that have "been there, done that".

1. What is the best battery available, with item # for our Big Dogs?
2. Am I incorrect in not wanting less than 300 CCA?

I dimly remember some 800 dollar battery that would start up the Space Shuttle - I don't need anything like that. This comes up as my Chopper has progressivly gotten harder to start, even though I always have it on a charger. My mechanic friend put a multi-meter on it and it drops 3 to 4 volts when you press the start button and he said it should not drop that much. At rest it shows 12.7. Since it is 3 years old, he said that year 3 was living on borrowed time, as they generally are good for two years on average. As always - thanks for the input.

I myself won't opt for a battery with anything less than 300cca.

As far as the best battery for your bike, Everyone has there own preference. I think it will be something that you feel is what you'll need. I bought a battery 2.5 years ago from a Harley shop and it's still going strong. I'll look at it and post exactly what it is when I get home tonight.

I'm with you guys. When I need a new battery it will be the highest CCA I can find in our size we need.
My battery is ALWAYS on the tender when not running and I think I've had it for over two years. Can't remember to tell you the truth, might be longer than that.

Don't know what the best is out there right now. :flag:

F all that...

Just go get a HD softail AGM battery. Direct bolt in and plenty of CCA ( I think it was like 10 more than the BDM one). Plus if you have any problems you're never too far from a HD dealer!

I am curious as to what Battery gets you for $800 bucks?

I was going from memory, it's actually closer to $900 (or the REAL super duper one for $1700. Matt Hotch is pushing this special battery. Read about it as the following link and be sure to check out the video - awesome.

Here is what I bought:
310 CCA Interstate direct replacement for BDM in their catalog

http://www.interstatebatteries.com/...s=product+Type|0||Rank|1&Ntk=SearchGroup&js=1

This is a AGM Battery with 310 CCA. Nothing bigger out there for the money!
I searched every battery available. I was looking for a smaller one than the factory one so it would be down below the frame rails, but the CCA was only 275. This 310 Interstate cranks the bike over like never before.

Well worth the $109. and great warranty. Same exact size as stock.
