Battery Failing...recommended battery for 2004 Pitbull

:up: Aye! Very FIRST mod to my niner when it came home was to install a pigtail for the battery tender...

I also zipped tied mine to the frame, right behind the primary... several people have had their pigtail get F'd in the wheel well, swing arm or the road...
I still have easy access, and it is not "flailing around"...

Seems like if the bike componets will drain the life out of the battery, a pigtail and charger should be a OEM supplied item. It's very own pacemaker to insure the cracking amps are where they need to be to start it. If you wash it you may put it into cardiac arrest...:roll:
I keep mine on one and pull the seat off each day to hook it up..:2thumbs:

could be the VR not charging it.

could be the 40 amp breaker tripped and needs to be reset.

start the bike and see if the battery is 'getting' a charge.

They are...... Now! In Daytona at the BDM truck I noticed the pigtail on all the models so asked Showdog and he confirmed that all have them now.

My recomendation would be using any AGM battery rated at 270 cca or higher. The key to a good battery is proper battery maintance. Using a "smart charger" or a float tender is what maintains a proper battery. Don't think you can get by with letting a bike sit during the off season and then charge the battery before you are going to ride. The battery will sulfate during the down time. Keeping a battery on a float charger will eliminate sufation of the battery and keep it at full capacity. Putting a charger pigtail on the battery and just getting in a routine habit of hooking it up after riding will make a battery last for years (ask Raywood). Trying to source in a higher cca battery but not performing routine maintaince will accomplish nothing.

Oh, And DO NOT use the Interstate AGM battery rated at 310 CCA (Cycle-Tron II High Performance - 310 CCA - 18 AH (CYTX20HL-BS)

BDM will NOT back this battery. I had a VR failure and this is what the dealer put in, then shortly after the EHC went out and the battery "Was Bad" and in order for BDM to cover it, I had to buy a BDM battery. They would not cover it with the Interstate AGM battery in it?!

Battery Tender---To Use Or Not To Use?

For cryin` out loud guys they`re no harder (to use) than shutting-off your fuel. Grow up and use a Battery Tender, they are cheap insurance. And to those who say "I didn`t have to use one on my Harley"; I say it`s a small inconvenience for such a big gain in Cool!:up:

Replaced my stocker about 2 weeks ago with an HD 175 CCA and it fires over stronger than ever and has a 1 year warranty too. Since our batteries drain 2% a day, keep it pluged into the tender when not riding and all will be well.

Didn't ride my 05 Chopper for two weeks and when I went to start it up she was sluggish and didn't start. :bang:
I rent a warehouse so no electricity but for my Honda 2000i gen.
Hooked it up and within 1hr the battery was at 100% and no problem starting. :up:
I usually charge it for 1hr or until the charger indicates 100% charge before I ride.
