I just bought this bike and its only been out a few times since I had it , put screaming eagle high compression plugs in it adjusted the carb like you people suggested and its running pretty good but the batter gets weak after riding even for a 15-20 min ride , starter turns over slow then click click , its a new battery and even after sitting for 12 hrs still click click its fine after being on the tender but it happens all over agian???

Its an 06 Pit with 4200 miles on it wtf?

check ALL connections for clean and tight.

check the VR for operation

check the charging system (stator) for output.

many threads with the how-to's

X2, as Tom said.... also.... A New Battery does not mean it (the Battery) is ok... it can be faulty! check the Battery first if everything was fine before you did the change...

If the battery is ok... then... as per Tom´s

Verify your circuit breaker isn't popped or fuse isn't blown depending on which one you have . If it is, then your battery isn't getting charged. Put a digital meter on the battery terminals while it's running and verify your getting good volts to the battery from your charging system.

After reading the threads here , I did here about the breaker so I just now went out and looked, facing the front of the bike there is a lil box with two wires attached to it and I felt underneath it and there was a switch which had popped out so I pushed it back in and its early here but I will take it out later for a ride an see what happens, man if that's all it is ,that would be great ! but Im picking up a multi meter this morning as well!!

Buy a cheap volt meter. Buy a battery charger that is rated at 1.5a and not under that number you shop for a charger. That's like you tagged teamed walmart and found both. Are you back home with those two items?

1. Charge the battery before attempting to drain more out of it.
2. Say you charged the battery and now you have the volt meter set at the 20v scale.
3. Start the bike, let it idle, what does the volt meter read? 14+v is a good sign at idle.
4. That says the stator is putting out the correct amps, the volt/reg is regulating a well charged battery, your CB did not pop.
5. The CB has not popped. The battery voltage has stayed the same or is dropping very slowly holding the volt meter there with the brake light on you go stepping to that step.
6. There is this term called 'total loss.' The battery will run the bike until there is a breakaway limit to the volts needed and that CB broke the chain from stator to v/reg to CB to battery+ side.
7. If the CB pops, a recall was mentioned, NAPA the crap pa out of it and match a US made part, unless they hand you the same breaker brand, then run a 40a fuse as posted or buy a harley 30a CB and use that.
8. If again you check voltage and that fuse is hot or ticking, you have a direct short is why it's popping now or just make sure when you start the bike you feel that fuse and keep using it.
9. Probably nothing wrong with the fuse... IF...
10... She no pop on start up.

I have not got the meter yet but I have it on a charger now , I have a charger/tender and will stop and pick up a voltage meter , I know they are cheap and I could use one around the house anyway. thanks for the step by step intructions and I will do exactly that.

I know when the alternator on a car has died it will run like crap, same thing here?

Its cold and raw here today but I took it out for a 20 minute ride of which was enough to weaken the battery before . I checked the breaker it wasnt tripped and now that the breaker has been rest it turned right over and started quick . I will pick up the meter and check it out too, but so far all seems fine and tomorrow is suppose to be warmer so time will tell, thanks again guys!!:whoop:

So what if you have the opposite problem, bike sits on the tender for a couple weeks and I try to start and the battery is weak but bike starts. I drive it for 40 miles and turn bike off and it starts just fine, battery back up to normal, so everything on bike is functioning as it should. How do I check battery tender to see if it is good? I've tried meter set to 20v and sticking probes in wire sockets coming from tender but nothing registers and I've tried this on several different tenders. I also tried meter just on one side of tender wires with no result. So how do you check tender????

So how do you check tender????
1. Set volt meter to 20a.
2. Check voltage at the battery, no charger hooked up. Note down number.
3. Install charger and let it cook the battery for less than a minute.
4. Check the voltage now with the charger on the battery and its charging voltage.
5. The volts should be higher than static battery voltage. This shows the charger is putting out.
