Battery again

In 2011 I brought my bike to Strokers in Dallas for a problem with my countershaft. They took care of business and got me up an runnin and they also replaced my battery with a new one. Three weeks laterI'm crusin bout 85mph and bike goes dead and I drift to the side turn switch off an back on and bike cranks back up and ride for a few miles and bike does the same thing. Bike cranks again and runs 2 miles and shuts down for good. Had to have someone come pick me up. When I get the bike home I check the battery, battery is reading good, 12.34 volts and green lite is on the battery tender. But starter will not turn over. I took the battery out of my honda, put it in the dog and the dog cranked right up. Replaced the battery with an odysey 545, cost me 120.00.
Everything worked fine until 3 weeks ago. After greasing and adjusting my clutch rod I attemped to crank the dog and the dog just click-click and then it cranks. Battery Tender was showing the green light. Same thing happened few hours later. I thought it was the starter solenoid instead of the battery being that the battery was only 9 months old and the tender light was green. I pulled the starter cleaned everything up real nice bike wouldn't crank. Carried the odysee battery back to store, they checked it and said that after a complete charge it registered 13volts but as soon as a load was place on it voltage fell to 8 volts or so. They replaced the battery. Everything is fine now. While dealing with the battery noticed my side covers were loose and broken, the hole that the bolts go thru and also the suction cups under seat had come loose from the seat. Used fiberglass and new suc cups from home depot to repair. Just like new now. Repaired the side cover the same way! During the month of June repaired a bad leak at the lower front of inner primary. After replacing all primary gaskets took it for a spin, checked underneath for leaks and it was leaking alil". Checked all hex bolts and re torked them and went for another spin, was leaking in another place alil'. Checked hex bolts again and re-torked went for a spin, no leaks everything great! Just sayin'

It is funny about batteries, some seem to have no issues, others seem to have them go no matter what.

I know myself I replaced one about 2.5 years ago after my power harness shot the crap out battery and EHC. Since I wanted to ride bad, just went to Wal-mart and got one of their Everlast. Was like $80-90 out the door. DId have to fill it with the Acid though.

Anyway 2.5 years later, thing is still going strong (or at least time I was home). It sets there for at least 3 months at a whack just on the occasional day or two on battery tender, and eveytime it start right up, and keeps on going while at home. Put it on the battery tender again when I leave for back overseas and the wife rotates the BT between the BG and the other MC.

So I do not know what it is with batteriies, but will say the cheap Wal-mart is doing fine. The previous two (original and one replacement) all did too and nothing fancy on any of them. Averageing about 2.5-3 years each.

I do plan on replacing the current one in October since it is about 2.5 years old and plan to take a multi-day trip with a friend, will most likely just give the Wally World special another try.
