I think those numbers are a bit misleading. I was looking at Odyssey a while back and I'm racking my memory a bit here but I think you need a higher CCA number, i.e. disregard those other numbers for x number of seconds.

I went through 2 in six months. And didn't have near the cranking power as the Dekka battery that I ended up with.

I am going with a Harley battery when I get it back together. I will use my old one to test out everything.

bob52261,
I bought the odyssey545fmj and it cranks much better than the stock battery did. The only problem I had was the dealer I bought it from did not know it took an odyssey charger to charge and maintain the battery. A regular battery charger will not charge it and a regular tender won't work either. I spent another $90 for the odyssey charger\tender and have had great luck with it. The 545 holds 13.5v on the charger in tender mode which is well above the 12.8v needed by these bikes. Works great for me.

You aught to save your money and just go get a HD Softail AGM battery. It's all you need!

That's what I'm saying. And my biggest factor for going just HD AGM. If it comes to warrenty, regardless if near home or on the road, a HD dealer is easy to hit up and warrenty the battery. Otherwise these other ideas are all thru the mail.

My local Harley dealer is outrageous. Said it'd be $130 out the door for their AGM battery and only 6mth warranty. And they couldn't even tell me what it was rated for. Advance Auto Parts carries 270cca AGM batteries now (ETX20L) for ~$90, 1yr warranty. Put one in my 2001 Mastiff (107ci, no releases) before I traded her in. Whatever you do, stay away from Batteries Plus. I went through 2 of their 310cca batteries in one year, each with a dead cell (always on a tender). Friend of mine who rides a V-Star had also had a cell die on him in less than a year (from b-plus).
