Basic PDM Question??

I have read as much as I could about the PDM "upgrade" on these forums (great information!!) and on the BDM site. I could not find an answer to what I think is a simple question, so if I missed it, I apologize in advance.

I have '06 Chopper (air core speedometer), which like some of the bikes I have read about here, basically "eats" batteries. I ride the Dog at least a couple of times a week during the season, and if I go any longer between rides, it goes on a tender (was using Battery Tender, now using the Norco). These are good batteries, btw, like Tomioka, Deka, etc.

By the end of the season, I experience the dreaded "no speedometer, no odometer" problem. Whether they work or not is completely hit or miss until I put a new battery in. It seems to have gotten a little worse the last couple of seasons. The bike has always started, though.

My question is whether installing the PDM will fix the battery drain issue and make the Dog act more like a "normal' :) bike. Has anyone experienced the same problem and seen a change when they did the swap?

Thanks!!

PS I tried to contact BDM via email about this, but they did not reply.

So now what happens with the people that have ordered and installed these? Are they out of luck?

One thing I will tell you is stop buying Asian batteries
I have 11 years experience on Big Dogs and while I'm far from knowing everything I do know that you don't want to run anything in them but American Made batteries. There are only two companies in the north east that make them. Everybody slaps all kinds of labels and charge all kinds of different prices but they are all the same. Get a low price American made battery.
Yeah I know "Batteries are batteries" Trust me there not.
Every Asian battery I've seen in a Big Dog dies in short order.
Now whether you have other issues is a whole other story.

Kaptain,
Can you give a few names of American made batteries that are good? I'm looking to replace the original Interstate because the terminals have cracked.

I had the same problem with my Interstate battery. Went back to a Deka battery. There made in America and were the batteries bigdog put in there bikes from the factory.

OK...so what batteries are USA made? What about Tomika? Some think this is the way to go. What about a Harley battery?
