Many of you on hear use these bikes as bar hoppers , and many as daily riders and some as l o n g distence touring bikes . well as a owner for just over a year now...biker most of my life "Many Bikes" I just would like tell all who are sitting on the side lines buy one now "help the econ" I'm not the big long distance rider "YET" ..the longest one day trip to Myrtle Beach aprox 400 miles was lame compaired some but it was great and easy... BUT I'm a expert at bar hoppin..and these bikes are great at this for sure We get the most looks and sound bad ass. I had so many comps on my bike tonight ..then I left with the tire smokin " just doing my part to stimilate the econ" Your welcome Avon! Just knowing that the boys sitting at the bar with the Fat Boys and Dynas and Dressers were wanting one ..yes they were ! The only bike I would ever trade this one for would be another BDM ! Great job and I hope to never eat my words ! LOVE IT !

Good post Scuba. I use mine for all and enjoy every minute of it.

Beats my ole Shovelhead springer that was so hard to keep running and leaked everywhere!!! 25 yrs of them was enough. Now they don't even service a bike over 5 yrs old! :loony:

I love my bike, and I love working on it. I'm not loyal to any brand, I could give a shit if it's a Big Dog or a Harley or whatever, it's very important to me to make my bike uniquely my own. I do about 5,000 miles every summer, and 90% of my riding is all short bar hops, and I agree, there just isn't anything cooler than a chopper out there. When I pull up with a group of my Harley buds, they may as well be riding scooters, nobody notices them. I see a lot of guys in my group go the route Gas did, eventually they all get fed up and most went back to Harleys. I'm blessed that I have the time and inclination to tinker with this thing constantly, and have 2 other nice customs at my disposal just in case mine isn't running.

Yeah few can compete with the Raywood status on these dogs. And I'm sure allot of that can be about his history as he's been showing us. The dog is leaps and bounds over some of the old scoots he's had. For others, they are still stuck in the past and making due with incrediable looks.

Gas Man, wow, never thought I'd hear you talk like that!! You have helped many guys out on here but I cant help but notice a severe change in attitude. Not bad mouthing just stating my oppinion, sorry you feel that way towards the Dogs, maybe your HD will be all that you want it to be, wish I could swing one of both but thats not happening..

Here brad thought we were talking about him...

Thump... as I said... I usually don't say nothing. But look at the ends some go to make the bike "right". Look at what Jake's been thru. We have always stated that they need more wrench time than most. But I've just come to where I don't want to do it. Plain n simple. Even if a HD requires some its usually less. Combine the required wrench time and the pending doom that lurks in the back of your mind and it takes a toll.

Are they an incrediable bike? Faster than the hd? Grab all the attention? Make most hd guys only wish? Make girls tops flop off and panties drop? Do sites like this feed into the gloom in your mind? Do sites like this help you when gloom creeps up on you?

ALL YES! Some VERY YES!

Do they look stupid when you're pushing them? Do you ride without any worries about the bike making it there or in one piece? Are these a "turn key" bike? Can you own one without having some wrench skills or knowing your dealer service center by first name? Do I regret owning a big dog?

All NO

:2thumbs: agree 100%

And that is what I do the most of, whether its 10 miles or 210, we do that all the time and it's great!

When I am 40, I will get me a geezer ride... and keep the K9, and when me and the wife feel like getting away (say over 300 mls) we can in complete comfort. :whoop:

Never get rid of the K9 though.....:loony:

After building a custom car there is one thing I can say. You need to build everything to withstand the biggest curve ball you can throw at it. I'm sure big dog knows the limits of their product. They are smart enough to back away from that threshold and provide some reliability in most instances. If you buy a bike with 100hp from the factory and now you have 130, well it wasn't engineered for that. I put in the 600 cam and that's it. I've had great reliablilty. I do have to say that not all issue around here are due to power increases. A great majority are due to lack of maintenence. You must check your fasteners at every service, adjust your belt and chain, lube your cables, check your tires, adjust the carb, fill the ehc connectors with dielectric grease and so on. Or you could just ride until shit breaks like my buddy with his K9. Can't believe that thing still moves.
