I have an 04 Big dog chopper, I pulled the starter and when I tilted it a little bit the ball bearing came out of the solenoid somewhere not exactly sure where it went back any help would be appreciated and thank you
Welcome from NJ,
As far as I know the solenoid only has a spring in it . Check out this link and maybe you will see the part your referring to. Give HDM a call and maybe you can figure it out. I've replaced the armature gears with roller bearings inside but I don't remember any ball bearings.
The older starters, I know on the '03 and '04s, has this ball bearing that falls out. It just drops in the end, if I remember correctly. I can't find a schematic on that starter. I know knothead or Eric at HDM will know. Been a long time since I've had starter problems knock on wood
thank you both very much very informative, I just got a little worried when I didn't like to see a ball bearing in one of the rebuild kits LOL. thank you again
I just took a solenoid out of a starter i got on the bench to make it more clear....just drop the ball back down the hole and then install the spring and plunger
