Bagger forward controls

Ran into something today while putting forward controls on a bagger. The first thing you will see, is it has 3 dowel pins instead of just one. No problem there, just take two of them out.

Here's were the problem is. those two pieces need to fit together. The part on the bagger measured .963'', and all the other Dogs that part is 1.010''.

So I put it in the lathe and made it 1.014''. Problem solved.

I called and talked to Derrick and Eric about this. So if you decide to put forward controls on your bagger, it will come with this part already machined out to fit.

Yeah, that is the next thing I ran into. Right side didn't change.

But the left side is now flat. I'm going to make a jig to drill new dowel pin holes, so anybody else needs it done, I can get you taken care of.

Also had to make a new cone, so the shifter would clear the frame.

sure doing alot of work on the bagger.
I'm just doing a level 3 rebuild. Bearing, seals, cosmetics, tires, shocks. In other words, winter maintenance. It goes to two other people after I'm done. If he want to talk about what he is doing, I'll let him do it.
This thread is suppose to be about the forward controls. I'll post more as I have time to work on it.

Ok, back to my flat floor board problem. As did on the other side of this same pivot, there are three dowel pins. We are going to leave all three in there.

I inked the inside of the clevis.
IMG_20200203_144924_resized_20200203_042708296.jpg

Got out the protractor, marked the angle of the right board. Then set the left board in place at the right angle, and tapped it gently with a rubber hammer.
IMG_20200203_145238_resized_20200203_042705064.jpg

And you can see it leaves little marks in the ink. But it is way to close to the other hole to drill.
IMG_20200203_150116_resized_20200203_042706430.jpg

I made a jig to hold the clevis at the right angle, and you can see this isn't going to work.
IMG_20200203_161239_resized_20200203_042704388.jpg

So I dug through my junk box and found another clevis with only one pin hole and drilled new pin holes.

Installed, and checked with protractor.

When you order a forward control set from HDM, Derrick and Donna, for the bagger, all this will be done for you already.
And you owe me a beer next time were together.
