I got a question. My scoot is an 05 mastiff with a 117 I was wondering if I take my baffels out will that hurt my motor? I have the stock supertrapps and Im eventually gonna Replace them but in the mean time I wanna get my stock pipes as loud as I can. Would you recommend I put them back in or is ok to ride with them out? Like can it hurt anything?

There's 4 plugs total in the stock supertrapps - two in each pipe. I completely knocked out the two closest to the end. On the other two plugs, instead of completely knocking them out, I drilled two 5/8" holes in them - the thought being to retain some back pressure. It will make the pipes slightly louder at idle, but they will be much louder when you're twisting it!

Im happy

have the 117. Went for full baffel removal...AND AM VERY HAPPY. I notice very very little low end torque loss. Sounds mellow deep. I have zero complaints. rejetted and dialed in the beer can with holes. (carb) and the motor is happy-happy.

There are several ways to remove the baffles. read the tutorials in the exhaust section. I opted to not remove the pipes and drilled them (tutorial on drilling also is in the exhaust section) Dont bang out the baffles with the pipes still on the bike. Also if you drill them the inner baffle in each pipe is in the pipe about 14 inches or so. You will need an extension on the hole saw. . Tack weld the hole saw to the extexnsion. If the hole saw comes off the extension inside the pipe you are toast. Even if you take the pipes off and try to knock out the stuck hole saw and baffle it will hang up when you try to pull it out .

I took the tail section of the supertrapps off ,I call it the muffler..used a pipe just a little smaller in diameter (slid down the exhaust pipe real easy)and with a 3 lbs hammer started punching the plugs out ,took more wacks than I thought it would, the length of pipe I used was about 2.5' long..needed to use a vise to get the pipe out each time..then turn the muffler upside down and shake the plug out...repeated three more times ..in my opinion and thats what it is.. plenty of back pressure still present.. subjectively, much better performance..would be very interested in dyno numbers before and after..sound was throaty loud ..completely different...very satisfied..whole thing with heatshields back on took about three hrs..but that was my first time which always takes longer

took the "muffler" off the bike
completely removed the baffles using an old jackhammer bit.
four baffles, one at the front and back of each pipe in the muffler.

not a bad sound for a cheap mod until i decide on a new exhaust. as Eric mentioned you will lose some torque but these bikes have plenty to spare. also some decel pop.
nice growl throught the lower gears........at speed you will really get peoples attention .

check it out.
