back rest pad fell off....really?

i cant believe how this thing is put on. no bolts were loose, but when i went to start it, the damn thing just fell off. lucky it was the padded part that hit the fender and not the metal. anyone secure theirs another way?

ya i drilled two wholes and put machine screws in the bar is solid had help tapping the wholes out

Never had an issue with mine, maybe it was those Gremlins you see on that insurance commercial.

i was thinking about that but didnt want to drill into the sissy bar. i was thinking about drilling more into the pad and securing it that way. i cant believe it really slides in! oh well, the good part about it is, i just take it off when riding solo. think it looks good and better than taking the bar on and off.

still cant believe it slides up!...on somthing that vibrates as much as it does.

There is another thread on this. Put some double back tape on the inside of the rails and then bolt it on.
Mines not been off in almost 5 yrs and it stays tight.

thanks for the tip. i was thinking about that but wondering if it was enough. i guess it would be. i have had a piece of 3M tape holding on my chrome fender tip on my roadstar for years.

i drilled and tapped and put some stainless steel screws in.fill better about my rear fender not haveing an accident.doesn't take long... :2thumbs::2thumbs:

It is said that if the bar is taken on and off that there will be issues.

Mine has not been off in over 3 years and I just checked, all is good....so far.

I put two sided tape on mine and it hasn't moved in three years.

I lost one on the Interstate I double sided tape on the new hasnt moved in a year.

:iagree: 4 yrs now no problem with mine & my sissy bar is on and off all the time

Lost mine once. Got very lucky to get it back, thanks to a good samaritan. Drilled and tapped a small hole, used a small stainless allen head just below the backing plate on one side. Didn't need both sides as it won't come off if it doesn't slide down. Can't see it unless you're looking for it...:2thumbs:
